In a small village, were the summer heat did make stepping outside of those houses even harder, the people who feared hunger had to work.

And amongst them, there was a little orphan girl.

Selling the vegetables in the small marketplace. Those dirty hands worked so hard on getting what she was selling.

She could not tell if she was lucky that her late mother did plant those seeds in front of their cottage, or if she was so unlucky in fact.

The villagers who knew her story were kind enough to only buy their needs of vegetables from her, and with the little money she made, she ran towards the medicine man who gave her just what she was looking for.

Rushing back to the little cottage that held inside the only person left for her to call home, family, she had a sister.

The sisters had the same features. Those long eyelashes, a light glow on their flawless skin, a long dark brown with eyes of  a light color.

They were simply beautiful.

She walked in, trying her best not to wake her sister up. At least not until dinner was ready so that she could have her medicine right after eating.

Must have been a huge responsibility, but she was up to it as long as her older sister gets to live.

"Evan, you are back"

She suddenly woke up to the smell of sweet potatoes.

"I did not want to wake you up, how are feeling Delia?"

Evan sat down next to her sister, placed the plate holding the hot sweet potatoes on the floor, right next to the medicine she was able to get.

"It's such a shame that you are working so hard"

Delia said.

"It's because I want to, let's eat"

The little one said, as she blew on her potato and got a bite of it, her expression described how delicious that was.

Delia, used the stick next to her, to adjust herself and helped herself joining her sister and hearing all about her day.

"Thank you for the food Evan"

She smiled at her sister who immediately smiled back with a stuffed mouth.

It was not easy to live, but things have been this way forever now.

That night, and right after taking her medicine, Delia crawled her way towards the space where she usually washed herself up.

Uplifting her long white dress, revealing those flawless legs and washing them up.

A scream was heard from afar, it was their neighbor, he was an old man who lived with his family and did help the sisters as much as he could.

The scream startled Evan and so she ran outside heading towards their house.

The guards were all over their small village, their fire did not bring light into that night but only brought fear.

Their son has been taken away from them. usually they take daughters but that small village did ran out of pretty faces.

"The king is building a special army of hunters, therefore we will be needing the young men to quietly follow us, we will not be harming anyone"

That knight's voice sounded warm, but his words did not make sense, no one would want to give their son up that easily.

Evan watched the boy she grew up with get taken away, she was lost within his mother's cries and the father who tried his best to fight back but he was a hopeless old man.

The voices around her were so loud, it almost felt unreal. At that moment everything overwhelmed her.

"Who is there?"

Delia asked after she heard an unfamiliar footsteps walking inside their cottage.

A tall, well build knight walked in.

He has a scary straight expression on his face which did frighten her but she remained calm.

He did not step in any closer and found himself commenting,

"What pretty legs"

To his surprise, Delia smiled.

It was such a painful sight to see.

"Well; they don't work"

She replied.

He sighed right after that and decided to leave, informing the rest of the guards that he already checked that house.

"Nothing is there to see"

He said.

Evan then snapped out of it, those youngsters were about her age, she has the chance to serve the king.

She for sure knew that if she can be useful to the king, her and her sister's life might get better.

"TAKE ME"

She yelled.

"I CAN DO WHATEVER THESE BOYS CAN DO, I WILL SERVE THE KING"

Some of them laughed, others ignored her and the villagers realized just how desperate she was.

But when she turned down, and saw him stepping outside of her house, she was in rage.

Little Evan ran towards him and punched him with all of her strength, not once, not twice but three times and he did not flinch.

He then stopped her, holding her arm tightly, she felt like he can broke her bones easily if he wanted too, and that thought scared her.

"What did you do to my sister? you were in our house"

She said with a cracked voice.

The man who finally knew why he was suddenly attached, replied with honesty,

"Nothing"

Delia who managed to crawl her way to the entrance, was very thankful that he left the door open or else she would not be able to see her little sister one last time.

"You're coming with us"

He said while dragging Evan by her arm towards the carriage that had many youngsters from every single village they have been to.

"EVAN"

Delia shouted, she was broken and has never in her entire life, feel so weak.

"Please, please don't take her"

She cried begging.

"I will be back Delia, Please take care of her for me"

Little Evan said, begging the whole village.

"We're done here"

The man said after closing the back of the carriage with Evan in it.

They all left, and the village became so quiet. only her crying voice was to be heard.

The mother who lost her child, sat down and hugged Delia tightly, as they shared the same pain.

And inside the carriage, Evan found herself comforting the mother's child.

Even though she had no idea what she was about to face, if she would be able to actually make it back, she knew of one thing.

She was the only family left for Delia, and for that she would do anything for her to live...
