It was long into the night when Layla roll into the compound and found another unexpected guest waiting on the patio.

As she hop off the car she did her best to conceal her surprise. For all this year she has been living in this house, she can count how many time Ammi comes to visit.

"Ammi..." Layla called though a gentle smile as the same appear on Ammi face. "When did you get here?"

"Not long..." She answered calmly looking at Layla with a a weak smile. "I figured you will be late so I just decide to wait here."

She went on gesturing to the Beautifully decorated patio that has just two chair sides by side then surrounded with different flowers of all kind but mostly, artificial.

"Am so sorry..." Layla apologizes even though there really is nothing to be sorry about. "I didn't know. Let's go inside."

"No..." Ammi trailed just when Layla inserted the key on the door while pointing at the seat next to her. "Come sit...Layla.."

Layla looked at Ammi unsure while Ammi blink her eyes, urging Layla to do it.

"How are you?" She asked as soon as Layla is sited with her eyes narrowing at her studying her calmly. "How is my granddaughter?" She added when Layla didn't answer the words.

Layla's heart skipped a beat while she look down, desperately trying her hide her guilt and nervousness.

Sitting close to this woman and after coming back from seeing Mommy, she felt herself been drown in her own guilt. For whatever is worth, she does not deserve this from her.

"Sh..she.She is good..." She shutters raising her head to glance at Ammi with a heavy heart. "She is staying over at Umma's. Are you sure this is okay?"

Layla said as she stood up abruptly wanting the conversation around her daughter to cease. "Why don't we go inside?"

"No Layla." Ammi insisted soothingly eying the chair Layla just stood up from "Is really is Okay."

Layla chucked awkwardly then took slow steps and sat back on the chair.

"I remembered how you love staring at the night when you where pregnant with Miemie." Ammi mumbled looking at the gloomy sky which resemble her feeling.

"And being around nature..." She added looking around the patio which is full of flowers but mostly artificial. "Coming here at this time, really reminded me of it."

Layla sighed happily also looking around them before her eyes settled on Ammi calmly. "Something's never change."

Cause that is the one thing about her that is still true. She loved nature and still do.

Ammi heaved a heavy sigh, her heart torn between what is right and wrong but for the first time, she is determine to do what she believes is right.
"Yeah..." She mumbled sadly looking down at her intertwined hands.

This her hand has delivered judgement, verdicts to the best of her abilities for 18 years which she believes is fair and just, and will forever stand by, but her mind and mouth has always have a way of being unfair to Layla.

"Except for your innocence." Ammi let out sadly which made Layla to trail her confused gaze to her as her heart summersaults on her chest wandering what does Ammi meant.

"I know is being 10 years..." Ammi continued after taking a deep breath as Layla listen with her heart up on her throat. "But now adays whenever your issue is raised, I got reminded by the innocent, shy girl that you used to be. The girl Abdulazeez fall in love and married."
