"A da..a date?" Layla shutters raising her brows as her heartbeat raises in anticipation.
"Yes." Jawad confirmed firmly, blinking his eyes. He hated how they left things. 4 years ago and even now.
If spending an eneving will make up for a bit of that, he will. He is ready to do anything to see her smiling brightly as she I suppose to.
"One last date..." He went on holding her gaze with the most saddest smile on his face. No matter how he forced himself to be happy about this date
How he couldn't wait for the day to finally arrive, how excited he is to spend even an hour with her, he can't help it. Even before the day arrives he is mourning for how he is going to move on without her after it.
Is that it? For how long will they be apart? What if is forever? What if she forgot about him and found someone else? Above all how will he be able to leave her today knowing that will be all.
This questions send his imagination spiraling out of control but still he couldn't stop, he tried and he is still trying to stop imagining a life without her but all he could see is darkness.
Jawad sighed doing his best to hide his conflicting thoughts as he force a gentle smile. "Not as Layla, Azeez's ex. Or Miemie and Rauda's mother but as Layla Umar Faruk..."
He laughed now while his mind flash back to the face of the girl he has fallen helplessly in love with.
Jawad took a deep breath, settling his gentle gaze on her, determine to let all the negativity and enjoy this once in a lifetime opportunity that God granted him.
The moment felt surreal that he is still trying to wrap him head around this. Is this real? Not a dream? Him standing in front of Layla talking to her, seeing her smile, not forced or having that gloomy look, but happily, excited even, having her brown iris sparkle as it raises full of live, love and laughter.
He chuckled softly then went on with. "The crazy chemistry genius that has her entire bio written in chemical formula."
It was Layla's turn to laugh shyly while she looked down feeling herself as if she is flooting on the sky.
Jawad chuckled leaning against the small railing separating them but close enough to Layla which made her to inhaled sharply suddenly conscious of her surrounding.
Jawad chuckled seeing her reaction while he took his time to stares at her face, studying evey to inch and corner, to memorize it and save it permanently on his brain. "The woman that set my heart ablaze with her simple smile."
His voice was soft and genuine in conflict with the emotions in his eyes, twirling with each word that came out of his mouth, which mostly he is trying to hide.
His black iris looking even darker, sparking with everything in them while the white appears whiter. It reminded Layla of her daughter's and that made her heart to squeeze painfully on her chest.
"Her dimples which are impossible to missed as I go on a crazy rampage to uncover her identity..."
He laughed now standing straight, the memory becoming visible in his head just how much trouble he went through to find her.
"And when I did..." He trail all serious, bitting his lower lip in an attempt to find the right word to use. "Let's just say she casted an enchanting spell on me..."
Layla chucked shyly looking down as she pushed a strand of hair then look up at his smiling face while trying hard to appear nonchalant which proven to be impossible.
"Let me guess....You are?" She asked fluttering her brows while she point at him with her hand.
Jawad let out a sound smile, loving where this going. "Isn't it obvious..." He trailed moving his cap to his left hand then used his right to point at her left breast pocket where his name is boldly written. "Lt col...M..J....I have my name right here."
