"Matar so" Aliya teased as she slip and sat next to her sister whom gave her a a nonchalant glance then took her gaze back to the set in front of them.
She sat at one corner of the compound observing every other person. 99.9% are here to attend the so called gender reveal which Rauda brain washed her grandmother and father into throwing.
From the setting alone, everything is shouting extravaganza which is the first thing Layla disapproved after the party itself as she was literally dragged here by Jawad.
The flowers, the balloons both in pink and blue, the extra extra gaint cakes and the fireworks that was set off in the middle of the day and they insist more is to come by night.
And the worse, worst of all, the people that attended. It baffles Layla just how serious the whole family took the so call gender reveal as they all took it upon themselves to each come with a gift, which is a pile on its own.
Even the AAA's are not left behind, which include few familiar faces. Salima too and Hussaina whom they both had a very understanding conversation with.
As long lost buddies and just like ages ago when she got separated from their brother, no judgement, no disappointment and no blame game.
Infact if she recalled clearly, no one asked her what happened then ,cause they're all busy discussing about her departure.
Layla doesn't know if they did that behind her back which the chances she believes is high or if they're going to do it after they left. Their choice really, she doesn't care.
Is being almost 15 years already. What they thought of her didn't and doesn't matter.
Layla's particular gaze settled on one of the ladies, standing in a group and from all indication so immersed in whatever it is they're discussing.
"How does she do it...?" Layla asked curious, her eyes still on her sister whom is chatting amongst Marwa and some of Jawad's cousins.
"She is the social butterfly among us all." Aliya replied also looking at their youngest sister whom just clap hand with Rahima.
The silent stretched again for some minutes as Aaliya study her sister carefully. Before, it was easy for her to guess what is going on in Layla's mind but not anymore.
"Were you in contact with Salima and her sister all this while?" Aaliya asked
genuinely curious before she can stop herself. Well old habits die hard
The way both the AAA's siblings and Layla reacted when they saw each other, doesn't look like someone that hasn't seen each other in close to 15 years, more like someone that is waiting to catch up with a dear friend.
Layla finally took her gaze to her sister as she let out a small snort. She knew that 90% of those that saw them happily chatting together all thought the same, including the 10% whom heard about it.
Some even have the nerve to stand there and eavesdrop for a little longer which made Layla to think "what did they think they're gonna talk about"
"If you count liking each other's post and the occasional hellos and Hiis..." Layla trailed nonchalant with a shrug while waving her hand dismissively.
All she knew is that half the people that may talk behind her back, cause they don't have the courage to say it to her face, point fingers at her. They're all too spoiled and too privileged to even fathom the kind of life she had, what she went through and how she survived at the end.
"Then yeah. We were in contact...but they didn't hear about the gender reveal from me..." She clearify holding onto Aaliya's gaze before she sighed the went on with.
