Happy Reading

The campus was still quiet, dew fresh on the grass. Angad and Keerthi walked toward the back benches behind the auditorium, hand in hand, sharing secret smiles.

Keerthi leaned against the wall, and Angad kissed her softly, his hands resting at her waist.

She giggled, “You know this is insane, right?”

He smirked. “Then why does it feel so perfect?”

“I don’t know,” she whispered, brushing his hair back. “But don’t ever stop kissing me like this.”

“I wasn’t planning to.”

They kissed again, lips slow and lingering, until they heard footsteps.

“Oh my god, you guys came early too?”
Caroline’s voice snapped the moment.

Keerthi quickly stepped away, pulling out her phone, pretending to scroll. Angad casually sat on the bench, stretching.

Stefan and Elena walked up behind Caroline.

Stefan raised an eyebrow. “Since when did you two start being early birds?”

Angad shrugged. “Had to finish some homework.”

Caroline narrowed her eyes. “Homework? Both of you? In school before the janitor opens the gates?”

Keerthi laughed nervously. “Don’t be dramatic.”

The group sat together, and Angad and Keerthi exchanged subtle glances, knees brushing, but they acted completely normal.

The bell had just rung when two staff members from the principal's office walked in, serious expressions on their faces.

Everyone stared.

“Abeer Mehra,” one said sternly.

He stood, confused. “Yes?”

“We need you to come with us. Open your locker, please.”

His eyes widened. “What? Why? Did I do something?”

“Just open it.”

Abeer looked around — students whispering, eyes darting. He walked to his locker, still stunned.

As he opened it, the staff member reached in…

…and pulled out a small pouch of pills and a rolled packet that looked suspiciously illegal.

A stunned silence fell in the hallway.

Abeer’s heart dropped.

“This isn’t mine!” he said loudly, stepping back.

The staff looked unimpressed. “We’ll discuss that with the principal.”

They held the bag carefully and ushered him down the hallway.
