The Next Day

The morning rush hums through the school corridors. Caroline, Stefan, Elena, and Keerthi are chatting near the lockers when Ruby walks up, acting all sweet with a tray of cupcakes in hand.

> Ruby (smiling): “Morning! I baked these last night. Thought we all could use a little sugar therapy after everything.”

Keerthi eyes her cautiously but doesn’t speak. Dharshi exchanges a glance with her but accepts a cupcake out of politeness.

> Caroline (tight-lipped): “Thanks… I guess.”

> Ruby (to Dharshi): “You know… I really missed this. Us. Things used to be so easy.”

Dharshi offers a half-smile, unsure.

> Dharshi: “Yeah, maybe… but things also got messy. Really messy.”

Ruby places a gentle hand on her arm.

> Ruby: “I was never against you. I’m glad you and Abeer are okay now. I mean it.”

Keerthi finally speaks.

> Keerthi (flatly): “Funny. You weren’t saying that last month.”

Ruby’s expression flickers for a moment—just a hint—but then she recovers.

> Ruby (sweetly): “I’m trying, Keerthi. Can’t we all just… move forward?”

Dharshi seems torn. She nods quietly and lets the conversation die, but Keerthi watches Ruby walk away with cold suspicion.

> Keerthi (whispering to Caroline): “I don’t trust that cupcake.”

> Caroline (whispering back): “I don’t trust her face.”

They share a low giggle as Ruby glances back, clearly noticing, but says nothing.

Keerthi pulls Angad aside by his jacket, grinning.

> Keerthi (teasing): “You were totally jealous of Peter yesterday.”

> Angad: “What? No. I just—he was staring at you like you’re a slice of cake.”

> Keerthi (smirking): “You don’t like competition?”

> Angad (pulls her close): “I just don’t like people looking at what’s already mine.”

They steal a quick kiss just before a bell rings, and walk off in different directions like strangers.

Dharshi and Abeer are organizing a project when Robin appears, awkward.

> Robin (quiet): “Hey… How’s Abeer doing?”
