Y/n's POV:
I glance sleepily out the window enjoying the fall scenery around me. It's absolutely beautiful and my favorite season of all time. It's around 7am and I'm sitting in my chilly kitchen not really for any reason.
I never wake up this early, and usually if i do its because I'm sick and can't fall asleep anymore.I admire the maple tree in my front yard looking at the color range of the leaves going from bright red to yellow to orange. Me and shawn bought the house because of all the beautiful land that surrounds us. The house is on a hill and there's only about 2 other houses on the whole road. I like having privacy and being surrounded by nature, it makes stressful moments just seem more peaceful once you get to breathe in the cold crisp air.
I squeeze the coffee mug in my hand and just sigh. I feel like it's been forever since I've had such a perfect morning.
I hear bustling upstairs and drawers opening and closing, I smile at the thought of shawn coming downstairs soon to greet me.
I look to my right and see him smiling like he had the best day of his life at the top of the stairs and I just laugh.
"What?" He says with a giggle, making his way sleepily downstairs and to my side on the window bench.
"You look, just so.." trying to think of the word I sip my coffee, "comfortable."
Shawn closes his eyes and lays his head on my shoulder, breathing slowly. He's wearing a flannel, which confuses me, but his air is not in the usual quiff, he has pieces flying everywhere from his sleep, and his pajama pants have Christmas trees on them.
He then chuckles quietly to himself, "if I'm being honest I actually thought these were plain pants when I put them on." He removes one of my hands from the coffee cup and intertwines our fingers, resting our hands on his knee.
"How?" I laugh throwing my head back, "you're wearing Christmas trees, you know that right?"
His thumb rubs lazily over my knuckles making me get butterflies, just like I used to before we got married. "Yeah," he sighs, "i guess I just can't wait for Christmas. You make the best desserts during the holidays."
He lays his head on my lap and I play with his hair, our hands still perfectly together, "hmmm," i hum, "I'm not sure what you're hoping for."
He looks at me, his eyes twinkling, "i don't know," he sighs, "you always make everything amazing i guess I'm not expecting anything. Except cookies. God I love your cookies."
We both laugh, him closing his eyes. Wow, I think to myself, he really didn't get much sleep last night.
"Baby boy, just go to sleep you look so tired." I continue to run my hand through his hair, earning a light smile from him. He closes his eyes once more and after a couple of minutes I feel his grip on my hand loosen, signalling that he has fallen asleep.
"And this is why," i whisper to myself, tracing circles with my thumb on his cheek, "i love fall."
