Y/n POV:
Shawn has been my best friend since we were 6 and he's absolutely, by far, the best person I know.
Glancing down at our tangled bodies on the couch, me resting my head on his shoulder I smile. I love when we cuddle like this. But also seeing this triggered something to make me sad. We have 3 more months of highschool, soon to move away, he has a beautiful girlfriend named Laur that he's absolutely in love with, and everything is changing so fast.
"Hey shawn?" I say with a sigh, opening and closing our palms of our intertwined hands, it's a game we play and he's intently focusing on it trying to close the gap between our hands first. "I have something to ask you."
He stops his hand suddenly, breaking his focus of our game and looks up to me and says with a nervous smile, "you don't love me do you?"
I laugh throwing my head back, "as a brother, best friend, ...home slice,"
His mouth drops open with sarcastic shock as he says, "you did not just say home slice."
"Oh but I did, that's not the point," giggling, I reach my free hand and mess up his hair quiff, earning an annoyed groan.
"Then spit it out home slice." He doesn't even bother to fix his hair knowing he'll have to break our intertwined grasp. He flashes me the biggest smile he can manage.
"Do you think we'll always be like this?" I say, looking down at our hands and squeezing.
"Aw of course y/n, this will never change, I promise." He rubs his thumb on my knuckles and I take in a deep breath.
"Good, because I never want this to change, no matter what you're my everything." I smile and bring our hands up so they're resting on my lips.
"And you're mine, I could stay here all day, but I do have to head over to Laur's, her parents are having me for dinner and this has been a fun 3 hours of cuddling." He smiles, giving my hand one last squeeze before slowly letting go.
I stretch with a loud yell squishing him on the inside of the couch and he starts laughing. His laugh will never get old.
"Alrighty muffin boy go tell your girlfriend that I said hi and that we screwed on the couch, tell her just to get her mad." He messes up my bun laughing, "wow y/n you really don't want her to like you."
"No point in trying to be nice," i say leaning on his shoulder, "i think her hate is too passionate to start trying now. I should've started in like 10th grade."
"Ahhh but it's never too late to be nice." He grabs his maroon sweatshirt and puts it on, me playfully getting angry at the fact that I had to lift my head from his shoulder.
"Oh alright mom, I'll think about that," i say this with the most sarcasm I can manage and shawn just rolls his eyes getting up. He leaves the living room heading to the front door but before he gets to the handle he says with a smile, "you know what? I'm taking all the cookies your mom made."
He quickly runs in the kitchen, with me close behind screaming at him that they're mine.
To get me to stop yelling he shoves a cookie in my mouth and says worriedly, "isn't your mom trying to sleep?"
I cough on the crumbs, and pull the cookie out of my mouth. "You can only have the cookies," i say pointing to the handful he has, " if i can have your mom's brownies."
"That's a deal," he says grinning, "oh and if your mom wakes up it was a squirrel trying to get in the house okay?"
I laugh shoving him from behind, "yeah sure, get out before I call the cops for theft."
He laughs and opens the door, leaving me with the bubbly feeling I always get with him.
We'll never change.
