Y/n POV:

I glance over at the clock to see its 8 at night and I was supposed to leave work to go home at 7:30.

I sigh, are you kidding me.

I hate overworking myself and it's really taking an awful tole on me, there's just so much to get done in my therapy office and if I don't get my work done, or think of ways to help a patient, I stay up all night. I don't know what's better overworking myself or having sleepless nights.

I pull on my coat tiredly, and lazily, grabmy phone and  head out the office and lock the door. I say my goodbyes to the woman at the front desk as she's packing her stuff up.

"Y/n what are you doing here?" She says as I walk by setting down her folder with a face of confusion.

"Got carried away again,"i say with a weak laugh. She's the only one that will talk to me, my boyfriend left years ago and all my friends have moved on. I'm great full for our little talks.

"You go home and relax, I can see what it's doing to you."

This lady  isn't a classic older woman you might see at a library or anything she's around 24, maybe a little older than I am.

I wave goodbye and on my drive home I decide i should stop and get some coffee knowing caffeine doesn't have the same effect on me as it used too. That used to keep me up all night for studying in college.

There's this little coffee shop that's open until 12 and It's called "daisy's treats," on a quiet side of the city, and me and my old best friend used to work there in highschool for one summer when we took the trip to San Francisco. Ahhh the days.

Ever since that trip I decided I wanted to live there one day, and here I am.

As i walk into the small, freshly brewed coffee scented room, I see a man around my age with a muscular body, silky looking gorgeous brown locks styled messily, and lips that look so plump and kissable.

I almost stop in my tracks, but I keep walking realizing if he noticed me stare it would be rude and awkward, so I walk up to the barista already knowing what I want to order.

"One large chai latte please,"i say with a smile, a probably tired looking one, it's been such a long day.

"$3.74" the man says, obviously bored and unamused by his job.

As i wait for my coffee I look back over to the handsome man. I wonder what his name is and if I ever got the courage to talk to him if he'd be interested to talk to someone that most likely looked like death.

He's reading a book that he's clearly interested.

Signs of intelligence, I'm sure he wouldn't blow me off.

The barrista hands me my coffee and   i decided that today is  the day I stop hiding, not talking to people and living the same old boring lifestyle I have been living for the past year now.

I confidently walk over to his table, which has a chair at each end and I lightly sit down and place my coffee in front of me.

He looks up from his book, at first surprised, but then the surprised expression quickly turns to a smile.

God he's beautiful, the way his teeth are perfectly straight and white, and the little scar on his cheek, all of him is stunning.

"Hello," he says, he's smiling super wide as he looks down shyly and closes his book.

"Do you mind if I sit here?"  I say looking down and grinning scared he'll tell me to leave.

What was I thinking he was clearly busy.

"No, no not at all I'd love some company." He placed his book on the floor and I looked up and smiled widely.

I realized when he said this his accent was Canadian and I thought it made him all the more adorable.

"Thank you," i blush, "my names y/n, figured it would be easier to talk if you new my name." I laugh trying to make a light hearted conversation.

He laughs and takes a sip of his coffee, "I'm shawn, and yes much easier."
He looks at my drink and cheekily smiles as he says, "so I'm not the only chai lover?"

I laugh at his comment and am kind of surprised, "you too? Everyone I know hates it so it's nice to meet someone that actually doesn't mind it's flavor."

"It's one of my favorites," he laughs and for the first time In what seems my whole life, I'm happy.

The rest of the night consisted of us having a small chat explaining our lives and what we like doing having an amazing time. It all made me forget how tired I was.

When it neared 9:30 the wave of tiredness hit me.

"It was nice talking to you shawn," i say as I get up.

"Yes you too, we should do this again sometime yeah?" He blushes at his own words.

My heart starts beating faster as I say, "yes of course, do you want my number?"

"I'd love that."

As I left I look back to see the little cafe that I met someone that I knew was going to somehow change my life for forever.
