Prakriti's POV:

((Requested by Prakriti_Singh hope you enjoyed))

Looking up the steep slope Shawn and I have yet to climb I sigh, my legs already aching from the two hours of previous climbing, and to see all our friends playfully shoving and laughing to each other, which makes a content smile cross my face.

Shawn follows my gaze and squeezes my hand, the silence between us being comfortable and happy, almost as if we're thinking the same thing.

"Who would've thought," he chuckles to himself as the words leave his lips, "that something like this would happen to me."

Where he went with his words caught me off gaurd, so I look up at him puzzled, not sure on what he means.

"What do you mean like this?" I rub my thumb over the back of his hand, enjoying how soft they are and how right they feel.

"I mean, something so beautiful and positive, its so easy to find negativity in life, but when you find something that makes you optimistic, thats special," he brings my hand to his lips and kisses it, breathing in happily.

"I mean a year ago there's no way i could say i was as happy as i am now," I look up to see him genuinely smiling.

"A year ago I dont think our friends could've even said they liked each other, its like our relationship is a miracle," laughing i take in the scenery around me, realizing how rare it is to find the time to take hikes like this with shawns fleeting schedule.

"Since when did this conversation get so deep," he lets go of my hand and takes a sip of his water, watching from the corner of his eye while i stop to take a rest by the tree.

"Ever since the words optimistic and negativity left your mouth, I was just going to comment about how stupid our friends looked," i wipe the sweat off my forehead and start thinking about the impossible, which is finishing this hike.

"Thats what you get for dating someone who writes about everything," passing me the water he winks playfully, making me want to cringe at the cheesiness of the moment.

"I cant walk this damn hike anymore," putting the cap on the bottle, I can slowly feel my legs turn into molasses.

"Youre kidding its only another mile," he raises his eyebrows at the fact that i cant endure the exercise that much longer.

"Thats what you get for dating the laziest person you've ever come across."

Pondering the different options to get me through the next mile, he finally decides on allowing me to ride on his back for the rest of the way.

"Youre insane i might break you," giggling I hop on his back hearing him grunt about the extra weight.

"Thats not stopping you is it?" Shawn tries making his way up the hill as fast as he can, in hopes of making what he's doing less painful.

"Its a good thing i love you," he mumbles this as we reach the top, already seeing in the distance the fire our friends have made at the camp site.

"That couldve been cute if it didnt sound like you were dying," laughing i tuck my head into the crook of his neck, feeling him ripple with laughter.

He puts me down and faces me, trying to hold back a beaming smile, "fine, i love you," kissing my cheek he laughs, "does it sound genuine now?"

"Of course, and i love you."
