I decided I wasn't finished finding a girl for Freddie yet. I invited him to lunch while Roger worked with Brian and John. We went to a small cafe on the corner of the street we lived on. It was very quiet. "So Freddie who are you bringing to the wedding?" I asked as casually as possible. "Myself?" He said. "No like who will you bring to dance with?" I said. "Myself?" He said again. "No girlfriend?" I asked. "No sadly not. I will be attending your wedding alone." He said. "Would you like me to set you up with someone?" I asked. "Really?" 'Yeah, of course!" "Could I meet them before the wedding?" He asked. "Yep." I said, thinking of who to pick. Sharon was married so no for her. Many of the girls in my classes had boyfriends. I thought of a girl I'd seen in college called Mary. She was very beautiful and shy. Only problem was I didn't know her personally. I had less than 3 months to get operation: get to know Mary in action.Roger had chosen his suit for the wedding. He chose a plain black suit with a light blue waistcoat tie that matched his eyes. He also chose a white corsage. He choose blue and white roses for centre pieces and my bouquet. Our wedding was falling into place. I was more excited than ever. I chose long light blue dresses for Chrissie, Sharon and Clare.
That night I told Roger about my plans for setting Freddie up with Mary when we were going to bed. "Wait," he said. "So you don't know this girl at all and you're going to set her up with Freddie?" He asked. "Yep!" I said. Roger laughed. "You do know how mad you are?" He said jokingly. "Yep!" I said. "Well my gorgeous fianceé, time for bed now." Roger said playfully, even thought we both knew that most likely meant making love. We got under the covers and kissed. After we made love Roger whispered: "I'm glad you're my fianceé. " I smiled in the dark at those few but meaningful words.
