Like A Landscape Painting In The Sky

Our first night in the new house was... eventful. The kids spent hours arguing over who got which room. Seeing as there were 6 rooms in the house, everyone could get their own. And seeing as each room was literally the exact same there shouldn't have been any issues.

My children, however, would fight with each other over anything and myself and Roger had to resist the urge to hit our heads against the wall while they decided. Hours later, it was settled and all three of them were exhausted from arguing.

I looked longingly at the other two bedrooms. I wanted them to be filled with kids but it wasn't possible now. I decided I'd just have to accept it and move on. Our family was perfect as it was.

I left the hallway and made my way to our bedroom where Roger was sprawled out on the bed only wearing his underwear.

He was raising his eyebrows comically at me.

"Well... what do you think?" He asked me, a sultry look in his eyes.

"I don't know whether you look funny or sexy," I said, starting to laugh.

"Hmm... probably the latter," Roger replied smugly and I giggled.

I got changed into my pyjamas and joined him on the bed. He got on top of me instantly.

"Roger!" I said, taken by surprise.

"I'm so happy we're here. This is gonna be so good," he told me, flashing me his pearly white smile.

"Me too," I said, before Roger placed a tender kiss on my lips.

He pulled the duvet cover over us and we made love to each other underneath.

A few hours later I woke up with a pain in my abdomen. It was bothering me so I went to the bathroom to check it out.

I found blood on my underwear and sighed loudly, reaching for pads. This was so annoying to me. I still had to deal with periods even though I couldn't have a baby. It was so pointless.

I rejoined Roger in bed and pulled the duvet over myself. Roger's pressed his warm body against mine and kissed my forehead. I felt myself drifting off in his arms.

The next morning the kids had their first day in their new school. They would be all going to the same school.

"Now, Elly, Aidan," I said to them firmly. "Make sure you take care of Luke, okay? He's little and there's gonna be big kids there too."

"We know, Mum," they said to me, dismissively.

"Kids, I mean it," I said.

"We'll take care of him," Aidan said.

Roger was sitting at the table drinking tea and reading a newspaper.

"Bye, have a good day, see you when you're home," he told them and they gave him a kiss and hug before they left.

I walked them out to the front of our driveway and waved them off before the bus collected them.

I came back into the house and Roger was putting his shoes on.

"Where are you heading off to?" I asked, clearing up after breakfast.

"Just into the studio. We've got a few more tracks to get finished," he said.

"Okay, see you later so," I said before he gave me a quick peck on the lips.

"Bye," he said, closing the door behind him.

I was alone in the house. I spent a few hours putting a few finishing touches to the house, like photo frames, throw pillows and rugs. Our house was beautiful and I was so grateful for it. Roger had worked so hard for us.
