June 6th 1973

We decided to drive to Truro instead of fly because the car journey was only five hours. We dropped Elly Mae and Aidan to Brian's house. "Brian thank you so much for taking care of them." I said, my heart racing as I remembered the dream. "Oh its no problem Megan, I hope you guys have a great time." He said smiling, pulling me into a hug. "See ya Brian." I said as I walked away. "Bye!" He said, waving as we drove off.

"Okay so how do we get there?" Asked Roger looking at a map. "You don't know?!" I asked. "I have an idea...." he said vaguely. "Oh my God!" I said. I took the map off him, trying to figure out how to get there. After a while I said, "I think we go on the M4 then the M5." Roger started the car. "Okay, let's go."

We drove down the road to get into the M4. It was a Saturday so it was insanely busy. There were hundreds of cars on the road. Roger groaned loudly. "For God's sake!" He said. "Calm down Roger, it's fine, it's 1:30 now so we'll probably get there at 7:00 it's okay." "Its not that. I don't think this was such a good idea...." "Roger! It will be okay!" I said. I looked over at him. He was running his hands through his long blonde hair. He followed his mothers orders of wearing something nice so he wore a navy shirt, red jeans and white suspenders. It was the outfit I bought him for Valentine's Day. I wore a knee length floral and white dress. The traffic slowly started to move and we were finally getting somewhere.

It was an hour later and we were on the M5. It was quiet in the car. There wasn't much to say because Roger was too worried about his mother. I took out one of his cassettes from the glovebox. "You have Queen cassettes?" I asked. "Yeah, I like to listen to them sometimes to see if I'm still happy with them." I put "Queen II" on and played my favourite song on that album, The Loser In The End, the one Roger sang lead vocals on. He kind of winced in embarrassment. "Do you like this one?" I asked. "Its just reminding me of my mum." He said. I went to change it. "No it's fine, leave it. I sat back. Only 2 hours left.

We finally arrived in the small village of Truro and I felt a strong feeling of nostalgia. It was such a beautiful place, even now. We stopped outside the Taylor home, right in the middle of the town. Rogers mother came out from the house to greet us at the door. She ran out to the car and gave Roger and me a huge hug. "Oh I've missed you both so much!" She said. "Michael!!" She called, shouting for Rogers dad. He came out and kissed my cheek and hugged Roger. "Hello guys, how are you?" Rogers father was a very nice man. He picked our bags up and put them in the house. "Well Megan I have to say, your dress is very.....nice." Rogers mother said, obviously lying. "Thank you Mrs Taylor." I said. "Oh call me Winifred dear." We went into Rogers parents home and sat at the table. "So I made dinner reservations at a nice restaurant in town for 8:30." Said Rogers mother. "Thank you Mrs Taylor that's very nice of you." I said. "Roger honey, you're very quiet is everything okay?" Asked his mother. "Yeah I'm fine." He said. "Okay well I'm going to go get changed and we'll go." Said Winifred. She went upstairs but Mr Taylor stayed. "Son, what's up?" He asked. "Dad, there's something we have to tell you both but I don't know how to tell mum." Said Roger. "Well tell me first and I'll help you tell her." Said Michael. "Okay well, we have twins." Said Roger. He was much more comfortable around his dad. "Twins?" He asked. I nodded. "Two boys or two girls or what?" He asked. "Boy and girl." Said Roger. "Lovely. Well I'm sure your mum will be very happy." Said Michael. "But," Roger said. "I've tried telling her before but she hung up. Mum didn't want to hear it." "Didn't want to hear what?" Asked Mrs Taylor coming back into the room. "You didn't want to hear about me moaning about how bad the album did." Roger lied. "Oh honey I'm sure it did great." Said Winifred. I nudged Roger under the table. His mother went outside to hang clothes on the washing line. "Roger, what the hell?" I asked. "I'll tell her at dinner, I promise." "You better."

We arrived at a very beautiful restaurant in the town centre. It was very fancy but it wasn't very busy. "Good evening." Said the waiter. We were given a table and menus. We talked while we waited to order. "So Megan, what's your occupation?" Asked Winifred. "Oh well I'm training to be a paramedic but I'm not in work at the moment because of......" I felt Roger kick me under the table. "Because of the fact that I've been ill for a while." I said. "Oh dear, and are you better now?" She asked. I nodded. After a short silence she spoke again. "Why would you want to be a paramedic?" "Mum!" Said Roger. "Its fine. Well I like helping people." "But a doctor can do that." She said. "We dont have enough doctors in the country because of people like you being-" "That's enough, Mum." Roger cut her off. Thankfully the waiter came over and we ordered. He came back a few minutes later with our meals. Roger put his hair behind his hair while he ate, and Rogers mother noticed. "Darling, your should really cut your hair." She said. "I mean, your hair is even longer than your wife's." I nearly choked on my food. That was true. My hair was shoulder length while Rogers went a little beyond his.
"Um, well, it's for the band, that's out style, we all have long hair." Said Roger. "God I don't know why you threw your life away to be in a band." She said. "You could have been a dentist but no you hit drums for a living." "But mum I enjoy it." He said through gritted teeth. I was starting to understand what he was talking about. "So Megan, do your parents still live in Truro?" Asked Michael trying to change the subject. "No they moved to Ireland after I moved to London." I said. "I've never liked the Irish." Said Winifred. "Well I can assure you we're very nice people." I said. "You're Irish?" She asked. I nodded. She let out a small snort. I gripped my knife and fork harder.

A young couple came in with a small child, and Winifred shook her head. "Such a waste, far too young." She said. My temper was rising. Roger started to fidget uncomfortably. "So Megan, is Roger good to you?" She asked. I laughed. "Uh yeah." I said laughing. "I heard he cheated." Roger spit out his drink. "I'm going to go to the restroom...." he said as I sat there, absolutely livid.
