It's So Funny, But There's Nothing To Laugh About

**Rogers POV**

I had my head down, watching my step, when I saw Megan wobble out of the corner of my eye below me, and fall down the length of the entire rock pyramid. She landed on the ground with a small thud, landing straight on her back. Panicking, I tried to make my way back down but I was only seeing a blur, my blood was rushing and my heart was racing.

I tried to run down the rocks but they were unsteady and virtually lethal so I swiftly took large steps from rock to rock, making my way down to the ground. Sprinting, I ran over to Megan's still body on the ground, meeting her on my knees as I had slid across the ground on them.

I gently tapped her face and she frowned and shifted slightly. I didn't want to move her in case she was badly injured but I couldn't leave her there. I had no way to contact the ambulance and there didn't seem to be any payphones about. Eventually I slipped my arm under her neck and put my other arm under her legs and carried her bridal style. I thought about my location. Our car was parked miles from the pyramid. I couldn't carry her the whole way because I could barely carry myself. Her limp body hung in my arms and I felt completely useless, unable to help her.

I knew I was just going to have to walk. I carried her the whole way, taking short breaks every few minutes. She never opened her eyes the whole way back. People looked at me as if I was insane but they obviously didn't understand the circumstances. I was confused because not one person asked me if I needed any help. They all just stared at us and completely ignored my distressed expression. I walked back by myself, barely able to move when I reached the car park. The walk had been miles and I was pumping sweat.

The sun was splitting the stones that day and I was wearing a jacket. I took the jacket off swiftly, a move fuelled by the heat and put it over Megan's body as I carried her. I reached our car and put Megan in the passenger seat. I knew I shouldnt have even moved her from the ground but there was no other way for her to get to the hospital. I jumped into the car and did a U turn in the car park, zooming out of this place as quick as I could.

I drove straight from that stupid lake to the nearest hospital, which was about 30 minutes away. The entire drive there, I was constantly glancing over at Megan to see if she was awake. Her eyes were drooping, but she was far from awake.

I made it to the hospital within a matter of minutes and took Megan out of the car again. Thankfully, nurses and doctors were standing outside the entrance and helped me. One brought a stretcher out and put Megan's body on it. They ran into the hospital while I went to reception to use the phone. I had to tell her parents.

"Hello?" I asked once they answered.

"Who's this?" Asked Megan's mother.

"It's Roger, listen, Megan had an accident, I don't think it's too serious but she's in the hospital right now," I told her.

"Oh my God, what hospital?!" Her mother exclaimed.

"Uhhhh...." I looked around. I was not familiar with Ireland and the names of the hospitals in certain counties. "I don't know..."

"What do you mean you don't know?! What county are you in?!"

"Uhhhh...." I thought. "Whichever county "Lough Bo- Boora? Is in?"

I heard her mother hang up the phone, I guessed she knew where she was going. I had a feeling Megan would be okay. Yes, she did fall quite a distance but I didn't think she would be badly injured. She did land on grass after all...

I wandered around the hospital, because I didn't know where they had taken her. Eventually I came to a waiting room crammed full of people. I found an empty seat, surprisingly, and sat down, completely exhausted. I noticed there was a reception area in the waiting room so I decided to ask.

"Hi, I was just wondering, where would patients who were just brought in be taken?"

The woman looked up at me with the dirtiest look I've ever seen. She obviously did not want to be disturbed. She locked eyes with me and then realised who I was. A false smile then became plastered across her face. "Of course, Mr.. Taylor, isn't it?" I nodded. She came out from behind the desk and lead me to another waiting room. "Thanks." I said, barely audible. "Absolutely no problem Mr Taylor."

It annoyed me how she would have treated someone else like dirt, I believed all should be equal.

I waited for hours and the longer I waited, the more worried I got. What was taking so long?

Eventually, a man came out, who I assumed was a doctor. "Is Mrs Taylor's next of kin here?" He asked. I stood up quickly and almost ran over to him.

"How is she?" I asked.

"She's stable, but I'm worried about her spine. Did she fall?"

I nodded and the doctor continued.

"She has yet to fully open her eyes and her reactions are rather slow. I think we might just be dealing with a concussion but it doesnt seem to be like that. Would you like to see her? She's just this way."

The doctor brought be to a room where Megan was lying in bed. She had a few machines hooked up to her and her eyes were closing. "Can I...?" I asked, pointing at Megan. I wanted to go over to her.

I sat on the bed beside her and took her hand which was ice cold. I noticed the doctors had left so I took her hand and blew on it softly, trying to warm it up. She must've felt my breath on her hand because she opened her eyes slightly and turned her neck very slowly. I stood up. "No, no, no, no," I said, putting my hands on her neck to stop her. She slightly frowned when she looked at me. "Hey, honey how are you?" I asked, once I sat back down. She didn't answer but I guessed she was just tired. I noticed her droopy eyes so I pulled her cover up more and kissed her forehead. I heard her mumbling something so I took her oxygen mask off. She stopped to pant a little.

"Wh-Who are.... you?"
