**2nd of August 1978*
*Roger's POV*
We stayed mostly the whole night in the Emergency Room with Freddie. They were so incredibly slow putting his plaster on. I hated how long it took because that gave me time to think and that was never good. I just wanted to get a good nights sleep before Megan came home. I wondered what she was doing, what she was thinking, was she thinking of me? If she remembered me at all.......
We were all sitting in the waiting room, dying of boredom, when a horrible realisation washed over me: I left the kids at home, even Luke.
I was so engrossed in bringing Freddie to the hospital that I didn't even think of my kids. I felt like a horrible father, and very close to tears so I started to walk out of the waiting room. "Woah, woah, where do you think you're going?" asked Brian. I stopped in my tracks. "Brian, could you just stop being an asshole for five minutes, please! I have to go home."
"I'm being an asshole?!" Brian shouted. People started to look at us. We were both exhausted and irritable. "Just leave me alone for two minutes please. I've got to go alright!? I left the kids at home on their own........"
Brian didn't say anything, he just looked down at the ground, shamefully. "I'm sorry Rog. I didn't know....." he mumbled. "It's fine. Look, just stay here with John. He seems really upset." "Yeah, of course. Hope all's okay."
I left the hospital, running faster than I ever had before. I had to get home as quick as I could. Who knows what could've happened to them when I was gone. I ran over to my car, my fingers fumbling with the keys as I tried to open the door. I noticed, to my horror, that the seats in the back of my car were covered in Freddies blood. I tried not to vomit while I got in and drove off. I must have pulled out in front of six or seven cars on the way and most of them beeped at me. I furiously stepped harder on the accelerator, tearing down the road. I was definitely doing over the speed limit but it was late at night so I kept driving.
My heart was racing as I opened the front door. "Elly? Aidan?" I called out just as I entered. No answer. I raced up the stairs and into their room only to find both of them fast asleep in their beds. Breathing a sigh of relief, I slowly went out of their room and into Lukes. The little guy was wide awake in his crib. I took him out and held him close to my chest. He started to whimper slightly but he didn't cry. I put him back in slowly. He was restless so I took him out again and carried him into my room. I placed him on the bed and lay beside him, my arm around him, protectively.
I felt my eyes start to get heavy and before I knew it, I was fast asleep.
*The Next Morning*
I woke up to the shrill ringing of the phone downstairs. I groaned and slowly crawled out of bed. I almost slid down the stairs and made my way to the door where the phone was.
"Hello?" I answered groggily.
"Hello, this is Dr. Anderson, is this Roger Taylor?"
"Yes?"
"I've called to tell you that your wife is recovering from surgery right now so you and your children are welcome to come and visit her."
"Oh okay. Thanks. Bye."
I checked the time. It was 10:30. I presumed the kids would be awake at this time. Of course, Luke was but Elly and Aidan weren't. They were over the moon to hear they were going to the hospital to see their mum. I dressed them and made them breakfast.
Then I got dressed. I wanted to look as nice as possible for her. I knew Megan always loved when I wore white, so I put on a white shirt. I paired it with jeans, seeing as I wanted to be causal. I finished my look with circular brown sunglasses. I was convinced there was something wrong with my eyes. I could barely see out of my right eye sometimes so I needed to get them checked..... but I had far more important things to be worrying about.
"Right kids," I said. "Let's get going....."
I loaded the kids into my car and then remembered the blood. "Actually guys...... we'll have to get a taxi instead. My cars broken down."
I called a taxi and they brought us to the hospital. I walked in, carrying Luke and with Elly and Aidan gripping my hand tightly. I went to reception, found Megan's room and went to it. The doctor was waiting outside. "Hi Roger. So I've successfully re-aligned the spine. Megan has yet to wake up so I'm not sure if her memory was restored but when she awakens we'll know." He told me.
I walked into her room, fearing the worst. "Daddy?" Elly asked. "Yes sweetheart?" "Is mummy okay now?"
"Uh I'm not sure princess, but we'll find out later." I sat the kids down and I sat on a chair beside the bed. I was exhausted. The kids curled up on their chairs and rested.
After a short nap, I woke and noticed Megan was awake. Her blue eyes were huge and full of wonder. I stood up and she looked at me. She slowly took her oxygen mask off, about to say something. I sat down, waiting.
"Roger...?"
