*25th of October 1981*
Freddie had been living with us for a few months now and he was already improving. I knew that he still wasn't feeling himself though. His heart was still yearning for that special someone and I hoped that soon, he would find them.
In our own family, things were going great. Rogers illness was under control and his stomach pains and fatigue had decreased dramatically. You wouldn't even be able to tell by him that he was battling this hard disease.
Luke and Aidan were fine, both getting so big and tall, but Elly was now getting sicker.
Her cancer was finally going down, but her body and brain was reacting negatively to the radiation. She was vomiting and feeling extremely tired. It was also affecting her mood. She was only seven, but she was acting seventeen, constant moodiness and tantrums.
I felt so sorry for her. She was only a child and she didn't deserve this. I felt like having Freddie around was a great boost for her, because he always made her feel better, she told me.
That day, Elly and I went to the hospital for a check up. This time, the doctor made her wear an eyepatch because her eye was irritated and oozing because of the radiation.
After her check up, the doctor called me into a private room to speak to me and I couldn't help but feel a bit nervous.
"Mrs Taylor," she smiled.
Elly was talking to one of the nurses as she was having her patch replaced.
"Elly is improving very well. This tumour is going down with ease and I'm very happy with these results. However, there is one thing..."
I raised my eyebrows slightly, silently telling her to continue because I was too scared to talk.
"To finally fully eliminate this tumour, Elly needs a very major procedure. It's perfectly safe and she'll be fine. Only.. it costs fifteen thousand pounds."
"Oh..." I said, thankful it wasn't anything serious.
"And if she doesn't have it?" I asked.
"The tumour can grow.. and spread." She told me.
I processed the information for a few minutes and then the doctor left the room.
I brought Elly home in the car and then she ran in to say hello to her dad and Freddie.
Freddie and Roger were sitting on the couch, reading something about them in a magazine when I came in.
Roger stood up and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
"Hey, how did it go?" He asked, holding onto my arms.
"Oh. It was fine. Thank god. But she needs a major procedure. And it's not cheap." I told him.
"Well, whatever it costs, we'll pay. She needs it, she'll get it."
"It's fifteen thousand pounds." I whispered.
"Fifteen thou- fifteen thousand pounds...?" He asked, in disbelief.
I nodded.
"Guys," Freddie piped in.
"I'll pay."
"No, honestly Freddie, it's fine. We'll find some way to pay." I told him.
"It'll be my way of saying thanks for letting me stay." Freddie said.
"Absolutely not." Roger said. "We can do another tour or a big concert somewhere and get the money."
"What about another album?" I asked.
