April 14th 1974
I had stayed the night in the hospital. My stomach was in excruciating pain. But I had Roger by my side every step of the way. He was very supportive and cared alot about my well-being and safety. It was going perfect. His care made me forget about the pain and what I was going to have to go through. Then Brian showed up.
"Brian, what are you doing here?" Asked Roger. "I came to see my friends." He said, looking confused as if we had invited him. "The babies are nearly ready to be born." I told him, saying probably what Roger was going to say, only most likely nicer. Roger was frowning. "Bri, hey," I said. "Maybe you should go home and we'll call you when they're born." I knew Roger didn't want him there so I made sure to get rid of him. He looked disappointed but left. Then Freddie appeared. "Fred, what are you doing here?" Roger asked. "Did everyone just assume that they were invited to the birth of my children?" He was getting annoyed at this point. "Roger, relax, just take a deep breath, stop getting so stressed out." I said, rubbing his shoulder. Freddie looked confused. "Brian has been here also, Roger wasn't expecting you guys." I said. Freddie nodded. "I'll leave you to it so, bye!" Said Freddie, walking out of the room. "Finally!" Whispered Roger, rolling his eyes. "Rog, why don't you want them here?" I asked. "Because, it's my children being born, it's not my wedding, you know? It's a family thing, not a friend thing!" He said. "Real friends are family." I said. Roger shrugged his shoulders. The door opened again. It was John. "Seriously?!" Said Roger. Once again, John looked confused. "Did you all get invited or something?" Said Roger shooing John out. "Roger why are you being such an ass?" Asked John, which wasn't like him.
I was left in the room alone. I was so excited but so nervous. I couldn't wait to be a mother. I couldn't wait to have Roger as the father of my children. We were going to be parents! It was an amazing feeling of happiness and overwhelming worry. I had so many emotions, I couldn't name them all. Roger came back into the room.
Suddenly, I felt a shooting pain across my abdomen, stronger than any pain I had felt before. It hurt so bad that I felt tears in my eyes. Then I felt my sheets and gown get covered in moisture. My waters had broken. Everything turned into a blur. I could hear the sound of Roger calling the doctor, I could hear the doctor asking me questions but I couldn't answer them. It was as if I had been paralysed for those few seconds. The doctor put an oxygen mask on me and I slowly started to feel better. My vision improved and I could make out what everyone was saying. It was all okay now.
I had to push. There was no way of getting out of it. "Okay, Megan, the first baby is coming now, so I need you to push with everything you have okay?" Said Dr Hardy. I pushed as hard as I could, squeezing Rogers hand as I did. I could feel sweat on my forehead. I was getting weaker with every push. Every push felt like the last one. However I couldn't stop. I heard the first twin cry. I was relieved that it was crying but I knew I had another one to push. Dr Hardy looked worried. "Megan, baby two isn't ready to be born yet it seems. It's not near the cervix yet so we'll have to do an emergency c section if thats okay." My child's life was hanging from a thread so I agreed. I was given a small painkiller but I still felt the incision which hurt beyond words. I heard my second twin crying. It was quite a sad thing, to hear them crying but I knew it just meant that they were healthy. I looked over at Roger. He was holding the boy, the first baby and rocking him. The second baby, the girl was handed to me. She had a tiny button nose and rosy cheeks. She had dark hair, which was unusual because both Roger and I had light hair. She stopped crying and slowly fell asleep. She was so precious. Roger and I swapped babies. I now had the boy. He had light hair and pretty much resembled Roger. He had huge eyes, even though they were closed. Like the girl, he was truly precious. Roger fell asleep in the hospital chair with the girl in his arms. When he finally woke, we decided on names. Elly for the girl and Aidan for the boy. Aidan Freddie John Taylor and Elly Mae Meddows Taylor born 14th of April 1974.
