Finding the Missing Piece: Book 6

Chapter Eleven

Peeta POV-

"Momma!" We hear Willow suddenly call from upstairs.

It's her impatient-'I want you to come here because I'm too lazy to get up' scream.

"What?" Katniss calls back.

"I need you to come here!" She yells.

"Come down here! I'm sitting down." Katniss laughs.

Mason snorts, "You're just too lazy to get up." He teases her.

I laugh a little and Katniss scoffs.

"You should go in the kitchen and we will have her go in there." Katniss mumbles into my ear then kisses my cheek gently.

I smile a little and nod my head, Mason helps me up.

I limp into the kitchen and sit at the island.

A few seconds later I hear her stomping down the stairs and I can't help but to smile like an idiot but I also feel so nervous for her reaction.

"Good morning." Katniss immediately greets her.

"Good morning." She says.

"Hey, Willow." I hear Mason say to her.

I don't hear her response.

"Did you sleep good?" Katniss asks.

"Uh huh. But why is Daddy's cousin here?" Willow asks Katniss, sounding confused.

"I brought you a surprise." Mason says.

"Oh...Where is it?" Willow asks.

A few seconds later I hear them all three walking towards the kitchen.

My hands start to shake and my heart races.

"It's in here." Katniss tells her.

Willow immediately runs in and Katniss follows behind her, Mason leans against the doorway.

She doesn't see me at first but when her eyes meet mine-they light up and get 10x bigger than normal.

"Well good morning." I say laughing, my voice choked up in excitement and fear.

Her mouth gapes open as she gasps and takes off in full speed towards me.

"Daddy!!" She screams excitedly and jumps into my arms.

Her tiny body hits me with a ton of force as she jumps into my arms, causing me to Iose my balance and fall.

I stumble back trying to catch myself on a chair or something but fail. My back end crashes onto the floor and a pain shoots through the thigh of my bad leg.

Katniss gasps and she and Mason both rush over to me, trying to help me up and asking me over and over if I'm okay but I ignore them.

Willow looks at me and waits for me to explode but I'm not even close to it.

Of course I would fall, but it's funny because she's six but she weighs like maybe 40 pounds.

"I'm sorry." Willow says about to cry.

I can't help but smirk at her, letting her know I'm not at all mad and relief floods her face.

As if on cue we both burst into laughter and I hug her again.

"Willow! You need to be more careful." Katniss scolds her angrily.

I shoot her a look.

After a few seconds, she shrugs, still looking worried.

"I'm fine." I say truthfully, kissing Willow's cheek.

She pulls away and looks me right in the eyes.

She grabs my cheeks and starts to give me repetitive kisses on every inch of my face.

"I missed-ed you so so much." She says excitedly, kissing my nose.

I chuckle, "I missed you too, Princess." I say.

Willow kisses my cheek again and then pulls away, making a face.

I laugh, "What?"

"You need to get rid of them scratchies." She says and wipes away her tears, "They maked my face itch." She says stopping to scratch her face.

I chuckle,  "I will shave my face later, I promise. Just for you." I say kissing her cheek again, just to taunt her.

She's smiles her big beautiful smile and I hold her tightly to me and rock us side to side-so glad to have my little girl back in my arms.

"I love you so much, baby girl." I say softly.

"Daddy... You're gonna squish me." Willow says out of breath and I let go of her.

Katniss laughs and so does Willow.

"So are you surprised?" Katniss asks her after a few minutes.

Willow smiles brightly, "Yes!! It's the bestest surprise ever, besides Rye!" She adds in.

I smile happily.

Katniss kneels down next to us and I put an arm around her shoulders,  carefully pulling her down into a hug. She sits on the floor next to us and we all three share a hug, right there on the kitchen floor.

"Momma, he's back. Him is finally back home to us!" Willow squeals happily, making my heart melt.

"I missed you both so so much." I say happily and kiss her cheek and then Katniss's.

Willow wraps her arms around my neck and buries her face into my shoulder and Katniss holds my hand tightly.

I glance over at Mason who smiles sadly at us, I shoot him a grateful smile as he watches us.

Katniss giggles, "You do realize we are both probably gonna have a hard time getting up off the floor in a minute." She says to me, leaning her forehead against my arm.

I laugh, "I know." I say and lean down to kiss the top of her head.

I love these two more than they will ever know and my son too.

"I'm so so happy again." Willow says to us as turns around to look at Mason. 

"Thank you for bringing me my Daddy back." She says and jumps up, hugging his legs.

I look at Katniss and she smiles sadly at me and I return it.

Mason smiles and pats her head, ruffling up her already messy hair.

Willow gives him a dirty look, "Don't do that."

"Do what?" Mason chuckles.

"You can't mess up her hair." I say like it's the most obvious thing in the world.

He chuckles, "Oh, I'm sorry." Mason says.

"It's okay but we can't be friends if you do that anymore. Okay?" Willow says seriously.

Mason laughs, "Whatever you say."

Katniss POV-

"I love you." Peeta mumbles into my ear and then starts to try and stand up. Willow and Mason grab his hands and help him up, then Peeta grabs my hands, managing to pull me up without a problem.

I hug him tightly and kiss his cheek, "Are you sure you're okay?" I ask him, still worried about his fall.

"I've never been better." Peeta says softly, tears streaming down his face.

I smile sadly and look down at Willow who is looking up at us.

She's happy, I can tell.

I haven't seen her this happy in a really long time and I love it, same for Peeta and the same for me.

***Sorry this sucked ass but I am kind of stuck! Ideas would help me so much!! Also happy 4/20 lol btw Katniss and Peeta's anniversary in my story was 2 days ago :P so I will probably use that as a chapter next! Idfk please help me
