Chapter Thirty-Nine

Katniss POV- (A few days later)

"Morning." Peeta's grandpa says as he walks into the living room of their house, it's like 11 but he just woke up.

We've been up for hours but just came over a few minutes ago.

"Good morning." We all say in unison.

"What are you kids going to be doing today?" He asks Peeta.

"That surprise we talked about." Peeta says with a wink.

"Ah." His grandpa says, sitting down next to Willow on the couch.

Willow looks at us, "A suprise?"

"Yes." Peeta says.

"For who?"

"I don't know." He laughs but she knows it's for her.

"When can I know?"

"In just a little bit." He says.

"Yay!" She says excitedly.

I smile a little, hopefully she will still be excited after she sees the place.

It has tons of potential but it's destroyed right now.

"How are you feeling this morning, Katniss?" Peeta's grandma asks me, patting my shoulder as she walks into the living room from the kitchen.

"I feel great." I say truthfully.

She smiles, "Good. You look wonderful."

"Thank you." I smile.

Peeta squeezes my hand and we exchange smiles.

"I think after you get back from town we should go let you ride the new horse." Peeta's grandpa tells Willow.

"The new horse?" She asks excitedly.

"Yes, her name is Sugar."

Willow nods, "Is her the white one?"

"Yep."

"She's so pretty! I bet her can be my favoritest horse after I ride her."

"I bet so." Peeta's grandpa says with a laugh.

"We can be best friends."

"Maybe." He smiles.

She looks over at Peeta, "Daddy?"

"What?"

"Are you and Money best friends?"

"I guess so, baby."

"But can I have two animal best friends because Buttercup is my best friend."

"Well, he can be your best cat friend and Sugar can be your best horse friend." Peeta's grandmother says.

"Oh and your puppies can be my best dog friends."

"Okay, I bet they'd love that." She chuckles.

"How come we don't have no puppies?" Willow asks us suddenly.

"We have Buttercup." I say, "And cats don't like dogs."

"Why?"

"They just don't usually get along."

"I bet if we had a puppy it would be Buttercup's friend."

Peeta and I laugh, "Are you hinting that you want a puppy?"

"Yes." She says bluntly.

I roll my eyes.

"Is that my surprise?" She asks.
