Chapter Fifty-One

Katniss POV- (2 days later)

"Good morning, sleepy butt." Peeta smiles and rubs my back gently.

I scrunch my nose up at him and he pecks my lips.

I laugh a little, yawning.

"Good morning." I say tiredly.

"Did you sleep well?" Peeta asks me.

I smile and nod my head, "How long did he sleep?"

"Until 5 and he's been asleep since."

"Wow." I say, shocked.

Peeta chuckles, "It's been quite nice."

"That means he will probably be up soon."

"Probably so but it's 9 so that's not too awful bad."

"Nope." I smile.

Peeta smiles, "Willow is gonna sleep until noon if we let her."

"Well, she needs her sleep too." I say with a laugh.

"Your mother's surgery was at 6 this morning." He reminds me.

I swallow hard and nod my head, "Any calls?"

"Neither of our phones have rang so I assume that's good news."

"Hopefully." I sigh.

Peeta gives me a look, "I bet she's fine."

"I feel bad that we had to miss it."

"She understands."

I sigh, "What if she died?"

"She didn't die or they would've already called us, Katniss. Stop thinking like that." He scolds me.

I swallow hard, "Yeah, I know, you're right."

"Just relax about if and we can call her soon."

"Okay." I say but I am still extremely nervous.

I feel bad that I slept through it too, even though there would've been nothing to do but wait on the phone call like we are having to do now.

"She's gonna be fine." He assures me.

I sigh, "I know but lately with the way things are for us, I'm not so sure."

"The bad times are over, Katniss. We just gotta focus on the good. You promised me you would and we've both been really happy the last two days."

"I know that."

Peeta sighs, "Then let's keep it up. I'm ready for things to slow down and to be good again."

"So am I."

"Then let's start having some fun soon. The kids are never gonna be this little again."

"I know that too."

Peeta sighs, "So I was thinking-"

"Uh oh." I say, teasing him.

He chuckles, "What if we took a plane from here to District 11? We stayed two days and then we went to 10, then 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and all the way to the Capital?"

I snort, "Do you know how much money that's gonna cost?"

"Lots but it'll be fine."

"Do you remember how many bills we have? Especially for the hospital. We still gotta pay for Willow's hospital stay on top of mine too. Plus the bit we still need to pay for yours."
