Bristol POV- (A week later)

"Mason, can I please have a really serious conversation with you?" I finally work up enough courage to say.

He smiles, "Sure. What's wrong? You've been acting strange today, did I do something wrong?"

I immediately start to cry and he rushes over to me, "Hey, don't cry. What's going on?"

I can't tell him.

We've had the best time today and when I tell him it's going to ruin everything.

"Nothing. Never mind, it's not even anything you'll want to deal with. It's not your problem."

"Bristol, come on. Please, just tell me what's gotten you so upset?" Mason pleads.

I look into his blue eyes and freeze.

This is how our friendship is going to end. A friendship that could've been more one day-he's everything I've ever wanted and I'm gonna lose him because of a stupid mistake I made months ago.

"A few months ago when I was still with my husband, I had found out about one of his many cheating partners. I was really really mad and he forced me into having sex with him." I explain, crying harder and harder as I recall the day.

I didn't even tell Katniss about this.

Mason's eyes fall to the ground and he frowns.

I swallow hard, "And I just found out the other day that I'm five months pregnant." I choke out.

Mason swallows hard, closing his eyes.

"Please, don't be mad at me? I didn't know until the other day with Katniss and I am so sorry I know you probably don't want anything to do with me now and I understand but please just don't be mad." I bawl into my hands.

Mason looks up at me and I can tell he's a little freaked out.

"I'm not mad at you. I am so so sorry you had to experience that." He whispers.

I cry harder, waiting for him to tell me he's leaving or that this isn't going to work out.

"Please don't tell Katniss or Peeta because I didn't tell them the whole story." I beg him.

If Peeta found out he'd hunt Blake down and kill him for sure.

"I promise that I won't tell a soul."

Relief floods my body but tension quickly builds back up as I remember the other part to telling him-are we still friends or does he want nothing to do with me?

I swallow hard, "I'm really sorry I didn't tell you sooner but I really didn't know until last week and I know you probably don't want to be friends anymore but please just-"

"Bristol, I promised you I would be here for you. I'm not going anywhere. This is a big step into things I've never had to deal with but I really really like you a lot. I care about you and I care about Carter and Carson. Okay?"

"Okay but we aren't you're problem or your responsibility." I say truthfully.

"I know but how else am I suppose to fall in love with you if I leave now? I know you have baggage and I do too but I really see us having a future together or I wouldn't be here."

I feel my heart flutter at his words and just hope he's being truthful.

"You're serious?"

"Yes. Ever since I met you I haven't been able to really think about anything else. I'm not trying to woo you but I'm being honest. I know I sound super cheesy but you already have a big chunk of my heart and I know I fell fast and hard but you're amazing. You're an amazing mother and I know that a lot of guys would freak out over this but I'm willing to learn. I'll be here for you."

"Are you sure you want to? I mean I've been married twice and both ended badly, are you sure you want to get into this?"

He laughs, "I'm positive. Katniss and Peeta and I have discussed you a lot and you don't really seem to be the problem but I can assure you I would never treat you or your kids the way your exs did."

"They said that too and look what happened..." I say.

Mason sighs, "I know you have trust issues but I promise you I'm different."

"I believe you I just it's hard for me to but you're Peeta's cousin. Peeta is like my big brother and I trust him more than anyone and he believes in you so why shouldn't I?" I decide.

Peeta's never lied to me and he's always told me everything I needed to hear, same for Katniss.

And so far Mason has kept every promise he's made me.

"Peeta's amazing and I wish I could be half the person he is and I'm working on it but if you just trust me I will take care of you."

I swallow hard.

"This is a game changer, you know? I need to really start looking harder for places in town. I've been looking anyways so I can be closer to Katniss and Peeta but I want to be closer to you too."

"You don't have to just pack up and move here, you have a life and a place somewhere else."

He snorts, "I am twenty-nine and I live in a small rundown apartment in the middle of District 10. (I don't remember what district he's from sue me) I think I'll be doing better off here no matter where I live."

I smile sadly, "I could help you find somewhere to live. I use to live in these really nice apartments. Katniss and Peeta actually use to live in the same apartment I did. It was their first home together."

"That's awesome. I should check them out. How funny would it be if I got into that apartment too?" He laughs.

I chuckle, "It would be pretty ironic."

"Well, how about since I'm in town you take me to see the outside of these apartments and I take you and your girls for some lunch? I promised Kat and Peeta I would be back at their place for dinner."

"I think that sounds amazing."

"Okay, I'm going to get Carter from her room." He smiles and turns around to walk away.

I swallow hard, "Mason?" I ask, standing up.

He turns around, "Yeah?"

"Thank you." I say softly and walk into his embrace.

He immediately hugs me back, "You're welcome."

I pull away awkwardly, looking down at my feet.

"Hey, when will you find out if it's a boy or a girl?"

I laugh, "I already found out the other day, it's another girl."

Mason's eyes light up and he smiles at me before turning around again and going on his way.
