Chapter Forty-Four

Katniss POV- (May 26th, 7am)

"Hey, Katniss?" Peeta shakes my shoulder gently.

I open my heavy eyes, "What?" I groan, turning over to face him.

"How are you feeling?" Peeta asks me quietly.

I sigh, "I don't know yet."

"Do you need to go to the hospital yet?"

I shake my head, "Not yet."

"You tell me when and we will go."

"I need to call my mom and Bristol and Annie and let them know it'll probably be today." I say.

He nods, "I can call them for you."

"Okay. And Peeta?" I say as he sits up.

"Yeah?"

"I don't care if my mother is a nurse, she's not coming into that delivery room and you can remind her of that."

He just laughs, "I won't let anyone in there."

"Only you're allowed in there." I say.

"Okay, I'll let everyone know." He says.

I nod, "Call your grandma and Mason too."

"Okay."

"And tell Bristol and Annie not to say a word to anyone else until he's born, okay? If anyone asks they weren't even informed."

"Okay, I'll make sure they know."

"Oh and Peeta?"

Peeta laughs, "Yes, dear?"

"Please, go check on Willow downstairs."

"I put her in her bedroom after I cleaned up last night but I'll go check on her."

"But don't wake her up yet because I want her to have some extra sleep until we go."

"Okay." He laughs, about to walk out the door and then I remember something else.

"Peeta?" I say.

"Yes?" He smiles.

"I'm really hungry."

Peeta chuckles, "What would you like?"

"Some cheese buns if you can make them fast."

"I have some leftover from last nights dinner. Will that be okay?"

"Yeah, just hurry cause I'm starving." I say truthfully.

Peeta laughs, "I will. Anything else?"

"Come lay with me afterwards because I feel like shit." I say, my voice croaking as I start thinking about all the pain I'll be in soon. 

He frowns, "Of course, Katniss. I'll be right back."

I groan and pull the blanket up over my head.

"Rye, will you speed this up a little? I know this is when you're usually sleeping but can you please just put me into labor because I feel horrible right now."

About ten minutes later Peeta comes back and lays down with me while feeding me cheese buns.

"Bristol and Annie are really excited and will meet us at the hospital when we call and your mother is going to meet us there to stay with Willow when we go too. And Mason and my grandparents are on their way over."

I sigh, "Please, tell me you swore everyone to secrecy?" I say.

There's already going to be a crowd without having everyone else show up and they already know they aren't seeing Rye until tomorrow or the next day anyways.
