I waddled through the isles as I rubbed my swollen belly. I was coming from the shoe section heading to another part of the store. My feet are aching and I'm already growing tired of being here. But I barely go out so I decided to stop by from the doctors appointment.
I was almost where I wanted to go until a cart rushed in front of me. I gasped holding my belling. "Oh my gosh, I'm sorry. Are you alright."
I looked up from my belly to see a face I hadn't seen in years, well in person, at least.
"Y/n?" His brown eyes widened. "Shawn." I said softly.
"Wow. You look," his eyes traveled to my stomachs. "radiant." My cheeks heated up.
"I, um, thanks." I pulled a curl behind my ear. "And you're sure you're alright?" He said while putting his cart to the side and coming closer to me.
"Y-yeah, I'm alright." I stepped back. "O-okay." Awkward silence.
"So, um, how's life?" He scratched his neck. "Oh, it's good." I smiled and rubbed my stomach.
"We're good."
"Well that's great to hear." He smiled.
"Well I would ask you the same but you're obviously doing great. You're putting out music back to back and are receiving amazing feedback." His face went red and he tried to hide the smile that was growing on his face.
"Well you know most of it wouldn't have happened if it weren't for you." He said with honesty.
"Oh that's not true." I chuckled.
"No in serious y/n. You know maybe sometime we could-"
"Hey babe I've been waiting in the baby section for you for the longest." I turned and saw my husband Nick (Robinson) coming our way.
"Woah is that Mendes?" He smiled. Once he got there he wrapped an arm around me.
"Hey Shawn, how's it going man?" He held out his free hand.
"Oh, it's going," he looked into my eyes. "Great. It's going great." He put on a smile.
"Oh that's good man. I see you've noticed that we are getting a new addition to our family." Nick put his hand on my stomach.
"Our?" Shawn looked surprised.
"Oh, yeah, Nick is my husband as well as my babies' daddy."
"Babies?" His face all together dropped.
"Yeah, she's having twins. Isn't that great man?" Nick exclaimed.
"Um, yes of course, congratulations." He smiled but it was obvious that it was fake.
"Well I'm sorry to cut this conversation short but we promised the in laws that we'd stop by." Shawn nodded
"Alright, well goodbye you two and again, congratulations." He then walked away.
Nick and I went to the baby section but I kind of dragged on.
"You alright baby? He looked over at me.
"We can always come back later." I shook my head.
"No it's okay."
I was just deep in my thoughts thinking if what could have been.
