Warnings: Drunkenness
You never wanted to know what having a ton of bricks dropped on your head felt like. Sadly, you had no choice because you decided to get absolutely shit faced last night. So, as fate would have it, you were now holed up under a mountain of blankets with the world's worst hangover. And what was worse than your mole-like state, was that you couldn't remember anything from the previous night. You knew there was a party, but that was it before the hurricane of booze that hit you.
You were an idiot to think you could handle Thor's Asgardian ale, especially after already being tipsy. In retrospect, the alcohol in your system was probably the only reason you asked for the interstellar ale.
After a groan escaped your chapped lips, you did your best to recall anything from last night. Luckily, you were in your own bed and alone so that was a good sign, considering all the people--attractive people--that you could've drunkenly hit on. Although, you were wearing a sweater as pants...and your shirt was inside out. Interesting... You begrudgingly pushed the covers away from your face to see the time, and didn't have the energy to care that it was one in the afternoon. Your voice produced a groan again when someone knocked on your door.
"Come in..." you grumbled, in no mood to get up, burying your head under the pillow.
"Hey, how ya doin?" a familiar voice--Clint's-- said, and suddenly, a memory from the night before came back to you.
***
"Hey, you can really handle your alcohol huh?" Clint said with an obvious sarcastic tone, but a smile on his face nonetheless. He seemed quite amused at your current state.
"Arre yyou bein' sarflastic?" you slurred back, doing your best to lean against Stark's bar nonchalantly.
"If you mean sarcastic, then yes. I'm afraid I don't know what sarflastic means.." Clint chuckled as you stepped on your own feet trying to seem casual. He had never seen anyone that drunk.
You clumsily narrowed your eyes at him. "Hhey, thas...ruudee yyou'ree...mmocking mee." Clint laughed again and you tried stepping towards him, but failed when your foot caught a bar stool. Your body was defeated by gravity, until Clint's arms caught you.
You laughed at the situation in your drunken state and stared up at his blue gray eyes. "Yyou're prettty..yy'know that?" The proximity between you two was closer than you've ever been, and you stared at his lips, which was turned up in a smile.
"Thank you very much..I could say the same about you..."
***
"Y/N?" Clint asked again.
"What? Oh, yeah um...I'll manage," you felt a blush rising on your cheeks remembering how embarrassing you were last night. Then you noticed him holding some stuff. "What do ya got there?"
"I brought aspirin and black tea. I know coffee makes your headaches worse so..." He walked over to the foot of your bed and handed you the cup and aspirin, sitting in front of you.
"Thanks," you mumbled, taking a sip of tea. "Damn... I haven't drank that much since...hell, I've never drank that much ever..." Clint laughed at that, and that's when another memory leaked through the dam of alcohol from last night.
***
You were now sitting on the couch, surrounded by party goers, and Clint still by your side. Well, side was a bit premature; your legs were draped over his thighs and your head on his shoulder. In retrospect, you weren't sure how he wasn't annoyed with you by that point in the night.
"No bbut serioussly yyou're likke...reallyy attractivve Barton...And ccaring too.. I wwould sayy funny too but I don't wanna revveal too much...And I llove how you ssmirk when yyou shoot and always...ssave everyone else beffore yourselff... Evenn wwhen you eeat the llast of my, my cereal..I ddon't care...I never ttold you beffore but thas prrobably cause I've hhad this huuUGE crush on yyou for a...while I think, I wwas sscared to ttell you..." you mumbled and sighed, running a hand over his arm.
"Oh really?" Clint asked, still amused and honestly not sure if it was you or the booze talking.
"Yyeah," you laughed, looking up at him. When your giggles died down, you just...went for it. Your fingers traced along his jawline, bringing his lips to yours. Surprisingly...he kissed back.
***
You looked over at him, mortified at yourself from the night before. "So um...why'd you bring me this? I'm thankful for it, don't get me wrong but..." you trailed off, trying to see if he would say anything about the...kiss.
"I wanted to see if you were okay. You drank.. a lot last night," he chuckled. "And I would've brought you something to eat, but I think I ate the last of your cereal..." He gave you a knowing look, and you knew right away. The look of mortification returned to your face, and you attempted to cover it with your hands. "Those things you said last night...did you mean them?" he asked a bit tediously, not sure what you would say.
"Look Clint I-I was drunk, obviously and..." you stood up and started pacing beside your bed where Clint was still sitting, "I didn't know w-what I was saying I... Even if I did i-it's not like you feel the same way, s-so I..." you ran a hand through your hair, still pacing. "I shouldn't have said anything I... I'm sorry Clint I-I freaked you out and I-I shouldn't have said anything! So just forget I said anything and-"
"Y/N," Clint said, grabbing your wrists to steady your gesturing hands, standing right in front of you. You didn't even notice him stand up... "I'm going to kiss you, alright?" You looked up at him, honestly a bit shocked. "And I'm going to kiss you with tongue. So you feel it," he said calmly, not looking away from your eyes.
Then, he kept his word, leaning in to touch his lips to yours. And you definitely felt it. You felt sparks dancing across your lips when you kissed him...and it felt right. Like you should've been kissing him this whole time. His hands went from your wrists to your cheeks, holding you close, and your hands went to his chest. When you both needed air, it was his turn to make a speech, although his was more coherent.
"I can't forget what you said, Y/N... I don't want to. I wish I had the courage you had to tell you how I felt sooner like you did...even if yours was drawn out by alcohol.." you both chuckled a bit, and he continued. "But since last night, all I wanted to do was kiss you again...Well, that's not true I've wanted to kiss you since I met you but-" As if you couldn't help it, you interrupted him with a kiss of your own, and felt him smile into the quick kiss.
"I'm glad we're on the same page," you said, leaning your forehead against his.
"Me too... Hey Y/N?" You hummed in response. "Why is your shirt inside out?"
He laughed and you tried to stifle a chuckle. "Shut up..." you giggled, shoving his chest away.
