While the rest of the guardians were all jamming along to Rubberband Man, you were focusing on your nervously twisting stomach. You were all responding to a distress call that continued to send a chill down your spine. An Asgardian refugee vessel was under attack, and they couldn't defend themselves. Asgard had been your home until you left years ago and never looked back. Still, you were afraid of whatever was catastrophic enough to warrant a refugee vessel. You feared the worst.

"We are arriving," Mantis announced and you drew your eyes to the front of the ship, and the twisting feeling started to rise through your chest. Whatever ship there was, it was blown to hell now, and bodies were floating in the space around it.

"What the hell happened here?" Gamora asked what was on everyone's mind. She must've noticed the pale and distant look on your face, because she gently grabbed your hand. "Are you going to be alright?" The team knew where you came from, and they ultimately left responding to the distress call your decision.

You didn't have an opportunity to answer Gamora's question, as something slammed into the ship's windshield, effectively startling the Guardians. Well, someone.

"Gah! Wipers, wipers! Get it off!" Rocket shouted in disgust. But the unknown man seemed to be alive, since his eye shot open.

Drax, Peter, and Gamora worked to get the man inside and onto a vacant table, but you felt numb. The entire time, you could've sworn you recognized him. But, out of all the people on that ship or floating around it, what are the chances you would cross paths with him again? The rest of your team was examining him with shock that he was still alive, and you kept your gaze locked on his face. It looked so much like him... It had to be Thor.

You felt your feet shuffle towards him until you could see his features up close. His hair was shorter, and darker. He had more of a beard too, which is to be expected after however many years. And he had an eye patch over his right eye. You felt your eyes welling up seeing the tear stains on his dirt dusted cheeks. "Can you wake him up?" you whispered to Mantis without looking away from his unfaithfully peaceful expression.

She gently placed a hand on his forehead and not a second later, Thor shot awake, flinging himself off the table. All the guardians backed off, grabbed their weapons just in case, and Thor let his panic settle if only slightly. He slowly turned to face the guardians with confusion laced through his features and defensive stance.

"Who the hell are you guys?" he asked gruffly. Then his eyes found yours at the back of the group. You had changed too since he last saw, but his eyes still softened in recognition. "Y/N?" It was recognition that made you nervous. You didn't exactly leave on the best of terms. You nodded in confirmation, not able to look away from his gaze.

"You two know each other?" Peter asked and he, as well as the rest of the guardians, lowered his weapon. Before you could respond, Thor stepped quickly to you, pushing past the guardians and wrapping you in a long awaited hug. You let out a breath you'd been holding since you saw him last, but hugged him back all the same.

"They know each other," Rocket commented with a hint of suggestion but you ignored it. Just the feeling of being in his arms again was beyond comforting...and something you didn't know you missed so much. But then all the guilt came flooding back.

You stiffened up and pulled back, with half of you calling you an idiot for doing so. Your eyes quickly averted his, and you could tell the guardians were exchanging looks among themselves, trying to piece together what happened between you two. "Alright, so who are you?" Gamora asked to steer the focus to something else. And you were grateful for it, taking the opportunity to step back away from Thor.

The rest of them talked and informed, and you picked up details from the background while you just stuck to the wall. You heard all that you needed, some titan named Thanos that needed to be stopped, what else was new? Your mind was mainly occupied with how you left things with Thor. And that you wanted to make something right. You wanted to at least explain. They were piecing together a plan, with Peter and Thor butting heads whenever possible, but you heard Rocket bringing an end to the arguing.

"Alright, we've got two ships, and a large assortment of morons. So Groot and I will go with the pirate angel to Nidavellir, and the rest of you can go to Knowhere to find Thanos." You pushed away from the wall at the opportunity.

"I'm going with you," you interjected. You dared to flash a glance at Thor, and he looked relieved.

"Alright, Y/N, Groot, and I will go with the pirate angel. Cool? Cool," Rocket confirmed before turning towards the open pod.

"So cool," Thor added. The four of you walked into the escape pod and settled in, with that infamously familiar pit forming in your stomach once again. "I wish you the best of luck, morons," he said to the rest of the guardians, earning an eye roll from Peter.

"This should be a fun trip..." Rocket mumbled sarcastically. You nerves quickly reached terminal velocity since you were about to be trapped. How the hell would you even begin to apologize to him?
