The High Life. The final stretch

Chapter 5

The news that Jodie and James were having twins spread like wild fire across social media. Everyone so positive about the whole thing. Even Taylor swift said congratulation which made James's day. While I enjoyed a few days at home Monday morning came and I had to leave again. We were heading to Ireland. Dublin and Belfast.

"Please can I come mum." Lilly said as I was about to leave she'd asked 100 times in the last 2 days.

"Lilly I would love to take you, you know I would but it's to short notice. I tell you want. I will speak to the school and see if you can come to Plymouth and Birmingham with me next week okay?" I said

"Okay." She said

"See you on Thursday." I said kissing Lilly on the head.

"Okay." Lilly said I left for the week.

The week flew by and before I knew it I was home again and after speaking to Lilly's school and say that she would be coming on an educational trip with me they agreed to let her come with me.

Sunday night and me and Lilly were heading to Plymouth.

"Lilly-Anna you ready?" I shouted up the stairs

"Yeah." She said coming down the stairs

"Good come on. George is waiting for us." I said

"Okay." She said

"Back Friday." I said kissing Connor

"Then that's it?" Con said

"Yeah the last few audition are in London." I said

"Okay." Con said I kissed Connor and me and Lilly left

"Hey Lilly." George said as we got in the taxi that was taking us to the train station

"Hello George." Lilly said

"You okay?" George asked

"Yeah just tired." Lilly said

"It's okay sweet you can sleep on the train." I said

"Okay." Lilly said resting her head on my shoulder.

We got on the train and headed for Plymouth. 5 hours later we arrived into Plymouth it was really late and poor Lilly was shattered. We still have an hour car journey before getting to the hotel.

We arrived at the hotel and me and Lilly went up to our room and to bed. We had to be up early the next morning.

"Night George." I said as we reached our room

"Night Rhi. Night Lilly." George said

"Night George." Lilly said she was half asleep.

I looked at George and smiled

"Go on sweet." I said opening the door to let her in the room

Next morning Lilly woke up early and was dressed and ready for the day even before my alarm went off.

"Lilly why are you awake so early?" I said sitting up and looking at her, she was sat on her bed reading the 3rd Harry potter book.

"Because I am." She said not looking at me

"Okay." I said getting out of bed and heading into the bathroom to get dressed and get ready.

When I was ready I sent a text to George to meet us downstairs for some breakfast.

"You okay George?" I asked when me and Lilly got down stairs to the breakfast area.

"Yeah you?" He asked

"Yeah good thanks. Someone woke up really early." I said smiling at Lilly.

"I'm excited." Lilly said smiling

"I know sweet." I said putting my arm around her.

"What have we got planned for today?" I asked George

"Have a look." He said handing me a booklet

"Really?" I said opening the booklet to find that not only the days events but the goings on for the next week. Each day starts at 7 and finishes at 9 with only an hour around 12 for lunch. Each day has 3 sets of audition in each place. It had been full on the last couple of weeks but most of the day we had finished by 5:30.

"It's going to be long few days." I said looking at Lilly

"That's okay." Lilly said looking really excited

I smiled at George

"Someone's looking forward to the next week." George said grinning at Lilly

"Yeah." I smiled

We had breakfast then went out to the taxi that was waiting outside the hotel that was taking us to the theatre where the audition were.

"This must be Lilly?" Steph said when I arrived at my dressing room 30 minutes later

"Yeah." I said smiling Lilly had told of me hand

"Hey Lilly want to spend the day with me?" Steph said

"no thanks. I want to spend it with mum." Lilly said and she sat down in the seat next to me I looked at Steph with an apologetic look

"Okay." Steph said and she left the room

It was great to have some time with Lilly just the 2 of us. I had missed having her around. I missed having all of them around, but Lilly was our first children after Oscar died and it meant something after losing him and after what Lilly had said at the breakfast table last week it got me thinking about Oscar. The thought of that he should've have been turning 18 next year scared me a little. Connor suffered more than I did when we lost Oscar. Our first child, a son that Connor could teach how to play football and teach him all the 'manly' things. Connor lost all that and he was heartbroken and if I'm honest that connection would have been strong we had only been together just over 3 years when I found out I was pregnant with Oscar so it was something special. I hadn't been to Oscar's grave in so long, I made a mental note to take Lilly on his birthday, 13th April, to lay some flowers.

"You okay mum." Lilly said he brought me back from my thoughts

"Yeah fine sweet heart you?" I said

"Yeah I'm good thanks." She said She stopped then said "What we doing today?"

"We're going to get ready I have managed to allow you to follow me round for the day and to show you what I do." I said smiling

"Cool." Lilly said

"Yeah but it means that you get to have your hair done and to wear something pretty." I said smiling "Go have a look behind that sheet." I said pointing to a sheet that was hanging up on the back of the door. Behind the door was blue dress. An early birthday present for Lilly. Can't believe she's nearly 14 that's crazy.

"Mum I love it." She said smiling

"knew you would." I said smiling

"Thank you." She said coming over to me and throwing her arms round me

"You're more than welcome sweet." I said
