The High Life. The final stretch

Chapter 20

28th July 2036. Brad's 40th birthday. Still no baby.

After months of planning a party for Brad the day is finally here. After telling a few lies to him to keep him out of the way. Sid had wanted it somewhere that we all knew so after pulling a few strings we were using one of the rehearsal halls at the label the one that was on the second floor and was massive. It took up most of the floor. We'd set up a stage (One we had borrowed from the Tide. A lovley bunch of guys that were signed to the label until the split in 2026. But they still had a stage that they used to use when they did small gigs) we got food and everything needed for a party. All his family and friends from Birmingham had come down as well. Including the other sets of Vamps parents which meant having to keep Lilly away from Connor mum. She upset her when the boys last did a tour and Connor took the kids over to see them.

"They're not staying with us lilly don't worry." I said It was lunch time, the day of the party.

"Good." Lilly said

"I know you don't like them but your 14 now Lilly you've got to be the bigger person." I said

"but she drives me mad." Lilly said she was carrying food for me to the car

"I know Lilly she doesn't like me much either." I said

Lilly didn't say anything

"Don't stress. It's one night. Ben's going to be there stick with him." I said

"Yeah." She said

"Don't worry." I said

"I'm going for a shower." Lilly said

"Okay babe." I said

"Calm?" Connor said coming out of the house bringing more food

"Nope." I said

"pregnant women don't do calm." Con said

"No." I said

"Breath babe it's going to be fine." Con said

I looked at him

"Just keep Lilly and mum away from each other. Lilly's grown up with a strong character she will snap at mum." Con said

I laughed

"Ash said he would come over and help get the kids ready while me and the others apart from Brad head to the label to get things ready." Con said

"Okay." I said

"See you later." Con said when all the food was in the car and he was about to leave for the label

"Have fun." I said smiling kissing him

"You as well. Sid has taken Brad out for the day." Con said

"Okay." I said

Con left and Ash turned up to help me get the kids ready.

Lilly was out of the shower and getting dressed. Ash bless him got Grace and Blake bathed for me. The boys had showers. When everyone was clean they got dressed and between me and Ash we got their hair dried and I put both Lilly and Grace's into French plaits because they both liked it like this.

"Boys you ready?" I shouted up to Jessie and Casper.

"Yeah coming mum." They said both appearing at the top of the stairs

"Good come on." I said

We headed over to the record label at half 4. everyone was like here waiting for Brad.

"Who bring him here?" James said

Everyone looked at me.

"What? Not me." I said

"He'll listen to you." Trist said

"Tristan's right Rhi he will." Con said

I looked at them all in amazement.

"What the hell am I meant to say?" I said

"Say your waters broke and you can't get hold of anyone else." Ash said

Me and Connor looked at him, the others were laughing.

"What it will work. You know what he's like. He's looking forward to this baby more
than you and Connor are." Ash said

Connor was still glaring at Ash I started to laugh

"It might work you know Con" I said

"It's a stupid idea." Con said

"No it's not. Hide and I'll give him a call." I said Connor glared at me for a minute or two decided he lost a loosing battle and went to hide.

"Brad......" I said when he answered the phone

"Yeah....." He said

"Can you come to the label?" I said

"Yeah. What's the matter?" He asked sound slightly concerned

I didn't say anything. Then said "my water have broken and I can't get hold of anyone. I've phone the ambulance but I can't get hold of Connor. He said something about taking the kids out for the day before your birthday meal tonight I'm in the big rehearsal room on the top floor."

"Okay on my way now." Brad said and he put the phone down

"Well that worked." I said looking at the others

"Quick hide Rhi." James said

I hid in the recording studio cupboard.

Lily, Casper and Luke were also hiding in the recording studio.

"Okay Rhi?" Luke said

"Yeah fine. 4 days to my due date I want it to hurry up now." I said

"Don't blame you." Luke said
Brad arrived 10 minutes later walked into the empty rehearsal room looked around was about to walk out when we all jumped out of our hiding place and shouted boo. Scaring the life out of Brad.

"Hey Brad." I said walking over to him

"Are you okay." He said

"Yeah I'm fine." I said smiling

"No broken waters?" He said

"No......"I said smiling

"Your evil." He said

"Yeah but you love me really." I said smiling and giving him a hug

"Maybe." He said

"Happy birthday mate." Ash said patting Brad on the back
"Yeah happy birthday." James said

"Think we should get his party started." I said smiling

"Think we should." Brad

We danced the night away eating loads of food and dancing far to much. All the kids had a great time. Luna and Oscar had just started to learn to walk so enjoying doing a bit of dancing with Lilly and Casper.

"She's so good with them." James said coming to sit next to me

"Yeah she is." I said smiling I was watching Lilly dancing with Luna. Luna was standing on Lilly's feet and she was dancing around. Luna was laughing so hard.

"You know what she said to me the other day." I said

"What?" James said

"She wants to be a peds doctor." I said

"Can she?" James said

"I've told her it's a lot of hard work and it takes time but have said she can be what ever she wants to be. And then with her pocket money she brought 2 peds doctors books to read." I said

"Well done her." James said

"Yeah. I will help in any way I can." I said

"Yeah." James said
