Chapter 21

At half 8 when everyone had had something to eat and we'd all enjoyed a bit of dancing Sid got up on stage. "Thanks everyone for coming tonight it's been a wonderful evening. But before we continue our little party there's something I want to ask." And he jumped off the stage and walked over to Brad.

"Brad." Sid said getting down on one knee.

"We've been together a long time now and have spent many hours talking about getting married. Now I think at the grand age of 40 I think it's time." from his pocket he pulled a box. Inside the box was an engagement ring. "Will you please do me the amazing honour of becoming my husband, for ever and always." Sid had opened the box and was looking at Brad who was sat on a chair near the food table.

"Yes." Brad said. He jumps off his seat and flung his arms around Sid knocking him to the ground. Everyone laughed.

"Let's get this party going again." Brad said and the music started again.

"What's the shouting?" I said turning and looking around

"Rhi!" Ben said he was out of breathe.

"What is it Ben?" I said

"Lilly and Alice." He said

I looked at Connor

"Oh dear." He said we stood up and headed out of the rehearsal room

"What's going on?" I said

I didn't like Alice much and to be fair she didn't like me either.

"You daughter is sat out her with a boy talking." Alice said

"What's your problem with that?" I said trying to keep my voice as calm as I could.

"A boy....." Alice said looking at me astonished that I was not worried.

"A boys she's know for about 5 years." I said still trying to stay calm

"But what happens if something you know........happened?" She said giving me the what if they get up to no good look.

"So?" I said

"So then what would you do? Has she had the talk?" Alice said

"Yeah......I gave her the talk at 10 when she asked." I said

"10 that's far to early." Alice said

"She asked I wasn't going to lie to her." I said

"Still to young to talk about that." Alice said

"Mum how we raise our children is up to us." Con said

"Yes darling it is but telling a 10 year old about s-e-x." She spelt it out like we were stupid "is no right."

"I can spell you know." Lilly said

"Yeah so can I." Ben said

"Sorry mum but that's what we did. Lilly asked about it and we told her." Con said

Alice just glared at us.

"Sorry mum but that's what we did." Con said

"I've been meaning to talk to you about 'other' things." She put a great effort into the word 'other'

"Lilly, Ben go dance." Con said

"Okay dad." She said standing up and walking back into the rehearsal room.

"Mum lets go to my office." Con said

"Okay babe?" I said

"Yeah." He kissed me on the cheek then him and Alice headed down a floor to where his office was and I went back and joined the party.
