The High Life. The final stretch

Chapter 65

"That was horrible." Lilly said as we walked through the door of the band house

"Yeah it was." I said

"I'm going for a swim." Lilly said

"You okay Lilly?" I asked as I watched her go up the stairs to her room

"Yeah." She said disappearing from sight.

"She'll be okay." Ben said

"Yeah." I said

The 4 of us had a lovely time in the States after the funeral. Lilly went over to see Hilary the day before we left to make sure that she was okay.

"How is she?" I asked when Lilly got home later that afternoon

"Not bad. Carrying on." Lilly said

"She gave me this." Lilly said pulling from a bag in her hand a photo frame.

"What is it?" I asked

"It's a picture of me and Matt when he came to watch the show." Lilly said turning it round to show us.

"Oh." I said

"Yeah. There's a note on the back as well." Lilly said

"What does it say?" James asked

"Something I thought you might like. It's one of my favourite picture I hope it becomes one of yours. Lots of love matt."

"Aww. That's nice." James said

"Yeah it is." I said smiling

"I'm going to put it in my case." Lilly said heading up stairs

"Think getting home is going to be a good thing." I said

"Yeah." James said

Getting home, the following evening was great. Connor was at the airport with the children waiting for us.

"Con." I said walking up to him and kissing him

"Good to have you back." He said

"Good to be back." I said

"You okay Lill?" Con asked

"Yeah thanks dad." Lilly said she'd hardly said anything on the plane ride home. Lilly walked off hand in hand with Ben

"She okay?" Con said looking at me

"I'm not sure." I said

"she'll be okay." James said

We went home, got Evie, Grace, Blake in bed then I helped Casper and Jessie with their holiday homework then they went up to bed.

"How was it?" Con asked when together to sat on the sofa.

"The time out there was nice. Weather was amazing but the funeral was hard. Really hard for Lilly. Hence why Ben is here." I said

"Fair enough." Con said

"Just got to give her time." I said

"As much time as she needs." Con said

"Yeah." I rested my head on his shoulder.

Over the next couple of weeks, I didn't see much of Lilly she kept to her bedroom and only really came out for college and meal times. I didn't see much off Connor either in the run up to Christmas the boys had been asked to perform at this year's jingle bell ball so they were rehearsing. The 5sos boys had also been asked the perform. Both bands had also been asked to perform on the Royal Verity as well. Which excited them all.
