The High Life. The final stretch

Chapter 82

March turned into April which then turned into May, the girls had settled in beautifully they were growing fast and now had great little personalities. Modesty was quiet and enjoyed just sitting in her bouncy chair listening to someone talk or read. Katie was loud and noisy and wants to be the centre of attention all the time.

With Lilly's 18th birthday fast approaching she wanted a party and there was no way I was going to stop the boys putting on the best party for her. However, I had said no to a stripper being there because there would be many under 17 there and it's not appropriate. However, they had convinced me that there could be some alcohol at the party but under careful supervision.

3 days before Lilly's birthday on the 29th May.

Lilly had taken grace and Evie into the centre of London with Ben to get new outfits for the party and would be bring something back for Katie and Modesty.

Connor had gone out with the boys to get their outfits so I was left at home with the twins making Lilly's birthday cake. She'd asked me to make her cake, after I'd made Ben's at the start of the year. She'd asked for book related cake so I decided to make a cake comprised with all her favourite book Harry Potter. So I'd had to make the cake 3 tier high to accommodate everything and it's taking up most of my time and energy.

"Everyone home." Came a voice from the hall way

"Hey." Was my reply

"You okay." Charlotte said as she came in the kitchen

"Yeah thanks." I said taking a step back from the cake and admiring the wizards hat I'd just put on the cake.

"Looks good." Charlotte said standing next to me

"Thanks. Nearly done." I said putting down my shaping tool and putting the kettle on.

"Everything seems to be going okay?" Charlotte said

"Yeah it's okay." I said

"You okay Rhi? You seem a bit distracted." Charlotte said

"No I'm fine thanks. Just tired." I said she gave me her 'I know somethings wrong so why are you not telling me look, that she used to do a lot when we were in our teens.'

"I'm fine really Charlotte." I said

She looked at me for a few more minutes then said "Okay Rhianne."

"The girls okay?" She asked a couple of minute later after an awkward silence

"They seem to be at the moment but I guess we won't know until their older." I said

"I'm sure everything will be fine." Charlotte said and the two of us headed into the living room where Modesty and Katie were sound asleep in their bouncy chairs.

We sat down on the sofa just talking, something we hadn't done in a very long time until the girls woke up wanting a feed and Lilly, Grace, Ben and Evie got back from their shopping trip.

"Hey guys." I said as the 4 of them came into the living room where me and charlotte were sat feeding the girls

"Hey mum." They said putting their bags on the floor.

"Hey Rhianne." Ben said

"Have fun?" I asked

"Yeah thanks." Lilly said sitting in on of the chairs and taking her coat off.

"So what did you get then?" I asked

It took the 4 of them 30 minutes to go through and show me and charlotte what they had brought by the time they had finished Connor and the boys were home.

"So, what did you get for the twins?" I asked when they had finished pulling out outfits for themselves.

"These." Lilly said and from a bag she pulled 2 different dresses a blue dress with different coloured flowers and a pink bow and a white dress with flowers, birds and butterflies on it.

"Oh, Lilly their beautiful well done." I said smiling as she held the dresses up

"Thanks. We went a bit mad with getting clothes. We brought a few other things." And with this she pulled out two red thing one and thing two outfits. I laughed.

"Nice." Charlotte said

"Thought you might like them we also brought the cream dress to go with the blue one we'd brought." She said pulling the dress from the bag.

"Thanks lovely Lilly." I said

"Here Lilly, take Modesty and I'll go put theses away." I said standing up.

"We might have also brought Minnie Mouse dresses as well." Lilly said grinning.

"Honestly Lilly." I said putting the twins dresses back in their bag.

"We got excited." She said smiling.

I took the clothes upstairs and hung the girls party dresses up on the back of their bedroom door. We'd put them in their own room now and it seemed to have done the world of good. They seemed to be sleeping a lot better now in a room together alone.

When I got back down stairs Lilly was singing under her breath to Modesty and Connor was sorting out the boys outfits.

"Have fun." I said to him.

"Yeah thanks." Connor said. It wasn't as hard for the boys to get outfits as it was for girls. All the boys were wearing pretty much the same things just slightly different coloured bow ties.

"Good." I said smiling

It's was an interesting evening Charlotte left just before dinner. Then shortly after I put the twins to bed then Evie and Blake. Shortly after 8 Lilly took Grace up who was protesting all the way up the stairs which caused the twins to wake up and for me to give Grace such a telling off for not being considerate about others and that the girls needed to sleep.

"Bed now." I said Grace glared at me and headed into her room.

"She's going to be a handful." Lilly said as the pair of us went into the twin's room to get them back off to sleep.

"Yeah." I said

It didn't take us long to get the twins back off to sleep and when they were asleep me and Lilly headed back down stairs.

Charlotte was talking to Ben about the party they stopped their conversation the second we walked into the living room.

"Ready to go Ben?" Lilly said

"Yeah." He said standing up.

They picked up their bags, said goodbye and headed out the door.

It wasn't long after Lilly and ben left that Charlotte left and we got the others into bed and headed to bed ourselves.
