The following day I decided to take Lilly out for lunch. That way she wouldn't have everyone's eyes on her as she opened the letter. No-one questioned my action and we went out.
"Where we going mum?" She asked
"There's a lovely café just down this road I thought that maybe we could go sit in there." I said forcing a smile
"Sounds great." Lilly said smiling
"Fab come on then." I said
We went into the little café and ordered some lunch.
"I wanted to give you this. It arrived yesterday. I would have given it to last night but you were asleep." I said pulling from my bag the bag from Matt
"What's this." She said
"It's from Matt." I said
"How do you know that?" She asked
"I may have opened it." I said
"Why?" Lilly said she was very calm considering
"Because it had to be signed for I wanted to know why just in case it was something really important." I said
"Oh." Lilly said she didn't seem angry with me for opening the letter. I wasn't going to tell her that it was in fact Charlotte and Jodie that opened it.
"Here." I said handing it to her.
"What does it say?" Lilly said
"I think it's best if you read it." I said
"Why?" Lilly said
"Just read it Lilly." I said
She opened the letter. As her eyes started to move down the page, tears started to form in her eyes.
"I knew there was something wrong." Lilly said
"I'm sorry Lilly." I said
"Not your fault. I should have asked him what was wrong." Lilly said
"There's not much you can do about it now." I said
"I could have asked." Lilly said
"What would he have said to you. 'Oh sorry I'm going to die. Just thought you should know' it's not that easy." I said
"I want to go and see him." Lilly said
"I knew you would say that. I've booked you and Ben on a flight to LA for tonight after the show." I said
"How did you know. I'd want to go." Lilly said
"Because I know you" I said Lilly smiled.
"It's going to be okay Lilly." I said
"I'm sure it will be." She said
"I spoke to Niall and he's going to pick you up from the airport tomorrow morning and he's said you and Ben could stay at his." I said
"Thank mum." Lilly said
"No worries." I said
Lilly's POV
Shock doesn't even come close to how I'm feeling right now. Me and Mum headed back to the venue together. Mum went to the dressing room and I went to sit quietly in the stands.
"You okay Lilly?" Ben asked
"I don't know." I said
"Rhi told us." Ben said
"Yeah well." I said not looking at him he came and sat next to me
"Rhi also said you were going out there. Want me to come?" He asked
"Yes please. I can't face this alone." I said
"I'll come." Ben said
"Thanks Ben." I said resting my head on his shoulder.
"Any time." Ben whispered.
We sat in the arena for a while not saying anything to each other.
"Guys sorry but there letting fans in." Mum said she had appeared on the stage
"Okay." Me and Ben said we stood up and went back stage
"Want to go back to the hotel and get your things together Lilly?" Mum said
"You can't seriously be thinking about letting them go." Dad said
"Connor. We've talked about this shut up." Mum said
"But." Dad started
"Connor cut it out. Your giving me a head ache now." James said
"But." Dad started
"Connor. I swear if you carry on I will lock you in the speaker box." Mum said
"Fine." Dad said and he walked off.
"He'll be okay." I said
"Not if I get hold of him." Mum said
"Don't let him get to you, mum." I said
"I won't." I said smiling
Me and Ben went back to the hotel to get our things together.
"You got everything?" I asked
"Yeah I think so." Ben said looking around the room
"Cool let's get back to the venue I want to watch the show before we leave." I said
"Yeah I'd like to watch the show as well." Ben said
"Cool come on then." I said and we headed back to the arena.
Getting back to the venue it was now full of people and Lazer light were just about to go on stage.
"Hey." Mum said
"Hey." I said
"Got everything you need?" Jodie asked
"Think so. We've just packed up all our things just in case we fly home. Don't want to leave anything behind." I said
"Good idea." Mum said
"You planning on not joining back up with us." Dad said
"Don't know dad. Maybe. There is only just over a week left of tour." I said
"You can't be out there too long. You start college on the 10th September." Dad said
"I know and I'll be back by then." I said
"Can you be sure." Dad said
"Yes dad. I've spoken to Niall and he's coming over to the UK on the 8th. So we'll come back with him." I said
"Good." Dad said
"You watching the show?" Mum asked
"Yeah." I said
At half 10 while everyone was leaving the venue and the boys went to the dressing room for a show. Mum and Jodie took me and Ben to the airport.
"See you in a week or so." I said giving mum a hug
"Hope it goes okay." Mum said
"I'm sure all will be fine." Mum said
"I'm sure it will be." I said
We said our goodbyes and headed through the gate to our plane.
