"So... You really had no idea who I was?" Zak asked me. It seemed hard for him to understand that I hadn't and I hadn't heard of his show.. But that was no excuse for stealing someone's location famous or not. You have some common curtesy.
"Nope. Never heard of you before." I replied.
"Not even the show?" He asked.
"No." I simply replied making him grunt. I looked at Blonde beard across the table eating and tilted my head.
"Who are you then? Because you aren't in the photos online?" I asked.
He looked at me and finished his mouthful before answering, at least he had manners...
"I'm just a friend of the crew. I'm the designated driver as they say. My name is Bacon." He answered.
"Bacon?" I asked unsure if I was thinking of food or that was his genuine name.
"It's Robert Bacon." He smiled.
"But we all call him Bacon." Aaron replied as I nodded and looked at Aaron.
I went into a trail of thought wondering what else was around Goldfield when Zak spoke again "So how come you are into the Paranormal?" He asked.
"I got bored one weekend." I replied.
They chuckled but I kept a straight face causing Zak to look at me more closely "Are you serious?" He asked.
I shook my head "No of course not. I used to live in a haunted house, I tried to explain to my parents what I saw as a child but they never believed me. Now I'm out to prove people who laughed at me wrong. You?"
"I used to experience things as a child, I used to have dreams of a shipwreck and see a big rat coming into my room and pulling clothes out my draws. When I grew up I was living in an apartment in Trenton, Michigan. I had a woman calling my name every night until I saw her at the bottom of my bed. I lived alone and soon found out the woman had killed herself in the same apartment." He replied.
I was impressed "So it's kind of in your blood then." I confirmed to myself.
"Yep certainly is."
I looked at Aaron "What about you?"
"Me?" He laughed "Oh I need a decent job. Zak offered me it and well it's been a crazy ride ever since." He smiled.
"So when was your first encounter with the paranormal?"
"Probably when we filmed the documentary to Ghost adventures, it was like the first show we ever did. Well I had an experience on there and I actually quit the show for a little while, but I was a sucker and came back for more."
I smiled and looked between them seeing the brotherhood bond. "What happened to the third one?" I asked and watched both bodies tense up.
Oh god, he hasn't died has he? Nice one Kaylee. Go put your foot right in it...
"He is no longer part of the crew." Zak answered quickly and I knew a hint of when to keep anymore questions to myself..
"You gonna go back to Australia now then?" Aaron asked looking at me as I pushed a chip around the plate.
"No, I live in Vegas now... I moved a few months ago into an apartment, it's small but it's only me and it is home right now." I replied.
"So what do you hope to achieve then?" Zak asked "Filming at the Goldfield?"
"Evidence, looking to catch a break somewhere.. It's the only thing I've wanted to do since I was little. I can't imagine myself doing anything else." I replied.
"Ever use an SLS camera?" Zak questioned.
I shook my head "What I have is pretty basic compared to you guys." I responded deflated. I'd love to own all the equipment Aaron rattled off, if it got them on TV and their own show you can bet a bottom dollar it got them some great evidence!
"If you apologise... For throwing water over me I'll make you a proposition." He smirked.
"Me? Apologise? I didn't do anything wrong. You were in wrong by being so rude."
"I wasn't being rude!" He defended himself.
"Yeah you really were..." Bacon mumbled making Zak look at him and back at me as I had a shit eating grin.
"I wouldn't have got so defence if you weren't rude and stealing my investigation, I had to spend my savings on hiring equipment just so I did the place some justice." I added.
He narrowed his eyes before sighing "Fine. Sorry for being abrupt."
"Rude."
"Abrupt."
"Rude.."
"Fine! Sorry for being rude." He apologised making me smile.
"See that didn't hurt. Did it? I'm sorry for throwing water at you."
He was still grumbling about apologising until he remember the proposition.
"Seeing as we stole your spot."
"So you admit it.. You stole it." I laughed.
"Yes, yes. As I was saying. Seeing as you can't investigate tonight. How about you investigate... With us? He suggested.
I looked at him and laughed "okay nice joke."
"Nah I'm serious. We got equipment you've never seen or used before so why not? You can come in with us, be part of the lockdown and maybe you'll get your chance?"
I thought about it before folding my arms "What's the catch?"
"No catch, but we'll show you exactly what Ghost Adventures is all about. What do you say?" He asked eagerly.
I smiled and nodded "Yeah okay. Why not! On one condition..."
"Name it?" Zak asked smiling.
"You're paying for my lunch." I decided to push his charitable nature.. See what he's really made of.
"No problem." He winked.
"Yes! Shotgun not being left on my own!" Aaron cheered. I laughed at his response.
"Does that happen often then?" I asked him.
They laughed as Aaron replied "Oh you have no idea!"
