Later that day...
I wanted to burst with excitement as I looked up at the Goldfield hotel. I now had my investigation back on track and I had access to fancy equipment too! Result!
"Okay, ready to play with the big boys?" Zak asked as I turned to see two SUVS pulling up.
"I uh.. Are you going to bury me in the desert? Cause this is looking a little C.I.A if I'm honest." I answered making him laugh.
"This is all our equipment, come on I'll introduce you." He smiled.
I followed him to the car where a man got out, his black hair was spiked and he had trimmed stumble with blue eyes.
"This is Billy, our audio tech & investigator. Billy this is Kaylee, our new investigator for one night only."
I shook his hand "G'day."
"Oh awesome you're an Aussie!" He grinned.
"Accents a give away right?"
He nodded with a smile.
"And these two are the Wasleys. This is Jay our visual tech & investigator and this is his wife Ash. Our photographer."
I shook their hands "I think it's cute you two work together."
After Zak explained to them why I was here and what we would be doing I was handed over to Billy who opened the trunk to cases.
"Got some muscles? You will have soon." He answered and began unloading the trunk. I followed and began doing relays with cases until the car was empty.
I grabbed the last case and almost slung it over my shoulder from how light it felt.
"What's in this one? It's feather light."
"Ah that would be our drone." Billy answered.
"You have a drone?!" I asked amazed.
"Yeah, we get awesome shots with it. I'll show you later, also let you have a little play around. But first things is first, we need to get x cameras sorted."
"Huh?" I asked.
"Oh, you won't know. Okay so at night the rooms or areas with the most activity, we leave static cameras in, basically so we cover the whole place at any given time in case we catch something. Jay also has some linked with a toggle remote control so that he can change and move the camera without being there. He does that at nerve, or base camp."
I nodded taking it all in.

Zak POV--I watched Kaylee as she was trained up by Billy, I couldn't help but smile seeing her eagerness and thirst for learning new things as they went through equipment.
I'd never imagined having a woman on the team, it had always been us guys. Her brunette hair reflected the light giving her a halo around the top of her
Head. I was a sucker for puppy eyes and she had them, big bright and loving eyes."Hey." She spoke making snap out of my moment.
I cleared my throat "Hey alright?"
"I was wondering if you wanted to take me...." Her voice was smooth and-
I blinked and looked at her as she waited."Excuse me?" I asked snapping myself from my thoughts.
"I said I was wondering if you wanted to take me inside and show me where the cameras are going. Are you okay?" She asked putting her hand on my arm with a slight frown.
The hairs on my arm stood up as just from the small amount of contact from her skin, I had no doubt that she could bring me to my knees without even trying.
"Ahem. I uh. Yeah let's go." I stumbled and headed inside quickly.
Trying to gain composure and sort myself out from feeling like some teenager at a school dance, I walked through the Goldfield as Kaylee tagged on behind.
"Whoa.... Wow....Oh sweet." She would whisper every now and then as we went room to room. To me this place was like a second home, I knew the layout well but Kaylee hadn't stepped foot inside until now.
I hadn't shared my concerns with her as to her investigating with us tonight, this place was dangerous, not as dangerous as other but this was the lockdown we got the levitating timber and flying brick.
"Hey, I uh.. Can we talk?" I asked scratching my head nervously.
"Yeah sure." She smiled sitting on the window sill. I walked over and took the opposite end to her.
"Look I'm gonna be straight with yo-"
"You're worried about me being in here." She answered making me sigh and nod.
"Don't be. I can look after myself, I don't taunt and I'm respectful. If I get a bump or bashed up then..." She gave a shrug "It's a learning experience and I want to experience the good and the bad. I need to learn it all if I'm going to go into this field and really make it." She answered.
"Well tonight I'm going to have you with me."
She nodded "Yes boss." I smiled at her cheekiness and watched as she looked around the room again before they landed on me.. My arms to be exact.
Her eyes narrowed sat them and mouth twitched slightly.
"Everything okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, just a question really.."
"Fire away." I replied.
"Your tattoos."
"You're wondering what they mean?" I asked.
"Denn die Todten reiten schnell. It's from Dracula. Are you a fan?" She asked.
"Big fan."
She nodded understand "The number 11?"
"I had a connection with a spirit in the silver queen hotel. Rosie." I replied.
"And the others?" She asked, I tilted my head and smiled.
"I'm sorry, I'm intruding now. I was just curious, I love tattoos. Could spend hours just looking at them." She answered before giving a little smile.
"Well this one is the GAC logo with a coffin added too it." I explained showing her my left bicep.
"This one is a tribal Aries symbol." I showed her my
Right arm."This one is the order of the dragon cross..."
"Dracula's cross." She smiled.
"And I have one on my back from my
Experience from Povelgia. It represents the power of good and evil." I answered."Wow.." She smiled and took my wrist to have a look at the order of the dragon tattoo. I suppressed my shudder as her finger ran over it going to the bottom tip of the cross.
"That's pretty sweet." She added. "So the one that pokes out from your top is the Povelgia one?"
I nodded.
"Hey! Zak Kaylee! We are all done!" Aaron called from downstairs making Kaylee smile.
"Guess I'll check that one out another time. Let's go." She hopped off the window sill and headed out the room leaving me with a stupid smile on my face.
Lord give me strength not to look a fool around her...
