If I didn't feel bad before I felt awful now..

We were in the medical centres waiting room with my head hung low waiting for them to call Zak in.

"You can go sit in the car if you want.. You don't need to be here." He whispered. I shook my head and held his hand in mine. Seeing the way he looked around at the other people I sighed and removed my hand from his.

Public, I almost forgot, we aren't actually a real couple. Or at least we aren't allowed to be outside his house. I folded my arms annoyed.

"You know why I'm li-"

"Whatever Zak." I replied shaking my head.

"Don't start.." He warned glaring at me. Anger was building fast with me to the point of my leg bouncing continuously.

"I thought perhaps one day we could be a normal couple. Then I remembered your image is more important.. Back of the cue Kaylee." I snapped.

He fists clenched before relaxing "We will talk about it in the car."

"Don't bother."

"You're just angry and upset because we are here. Well big deal, you bit me, it's your fault and now we have to wait. So sit there shut up and stop fucking sulking."

I glared at him as he held my eye contact but my anger slipped into upset quickly whilst looking at him. My lip trembled making me look away from him.

"I'm sor-"

"No you're not." I sniffed standing up, I picked up my bag and went into the toilets. Raking my hands over my face I looked in the mirror and checked my appearance.

After calming down I ruffled up my hair to give it some volume before leaving the bathroom and sitting back down.

The door opened in front of us as a doctor in a white coat stepped out with glasses perched on the end of his nose. His hair was thinning and green eyes looked up to us.

"Zak." He smiled.

Zak stood up and something in my body stood with him. Like two magnets where he went I was going behind.

"Come in.. Come in." The doctor smiled closing the door behind us.

"Take a seat." He gestured.

As the doctor sat behind his desk, myself and Zak took the seats. "Okay.. What can I do for you?" He asked looking at us.

"I've been bit." Zak started making my head lower, I began playing with my fingers as he rolled up his sleeve.

"Okay. Before we go any further, could you remove your top, simply because the pressure from pushing the sleeve up will encourage more blood flow than what's normal. A bit like squeezing a cut, sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't."

"Sure." Zak said standing up and pulling his shirt off. The doctor pulled his swivel chair around the desk and looked at his arm clad with the bandaid I placed on it.

"Let's get this off, have a look and see where we go from here." The doctor smiled pulling a small table across.

I watched as Zak placed his arm on it as the doctor flicked on the light to get a better look at the wound.

The bandaid was removed and the doctor in took a long breath. "That's a nasty bite... Human."

"Yes sir."

"How did that happen?" The doctor asked getting things from the cupboards around him.

"Possession.."

"Ah, any other injuries?" The doctor asked simply.

I blinked between them before realising Zak had seen him before which meant things paranormal wouldn't be a surprise to the doctor.

"Yourself?" He asked.

"No sir. Another person."

"How are they?"

"Okay.." Zak answered.

"Right, well we are gonna clean this up, wash it through with saline.. I'm gonna prescribe you with some antibiotics just to be on the safe side, also I'm gonna run bloods." The doctor said giving his analysis.

"Whatever you say."

"Antibiotics? Bloods?" I asked causing the doctor to look at me for the first time since entering.

"It's nothing to worry about. The bloods are to check for any signs of infection and the antibiotics are there to stop anything that may have been passed on. The person could have a disease."

"They don't... It was me." I mumbled.

He looked at Zak who had taken a keen interest at the White wall beside him. "I see.."

"I didn't mean to and I'm really sorry. I'm sorry I hurt him but I didn't mean it and it wasn't my fault like he said it was." I replied as I began crying.

"When did this take place?" He asked.

"This morning.. Early. I was- we were in an investigation. I can't remember anything. I just remember the room and the walkie talkie. Have I made him really sick? I tried to help him, I patched it up but it's not enough. Is it?" I asked.

He looked at me with pity "You cleaned it, that alone cuts the risk of infection. My job is just to ensure it stays clean after your work." He smiled.

I looked at Zak who was looked at the bite on his arm. "I think he's angry at me.. I should go. I'm sorry." I whimpered getting my bag and leaving the room quickly.

Wiping my eyes hard I left the medical centre and began walking away fast. I thought we were playing, but we weren't. We aren't.. He blames me.

He blames me and I deserve it. This was our shot at showing each other we could do this, we could both work in the paranormal and deal with what shit happens but that's just proved we can't.. We can't because we will direct our anger at each other.

I crossed street and went into Vegas, slipping onto the strip I had to decide what to do next.

Go for the job and lose him?

Or go for him and give up my dream?
