It was a few hours later and it seemed as if scene had changed and I was the one perched on the end of the bed watching Zak sleep.
He looked at peace whilst he slept, I had noticed that after the first few minutes, compared to the constant serious look that was always upon his face. I leant forward and brushed his hair back slightly, curling my hand around his face I sighed and got off the bed.
The rain outside had been coming down hard, it looked to be in for the night as we touched into late afternoon I didn't care for it. I was more concerned with how the man I love was going to deal with messages from his loved ones.. I had text Billy who responded that during his moment he had tears in his eyes and pulled the his beanie over his eyes to avoid being filmed.
I guess as a man crying would have made him weak- or so he thought. But I found it admirable, that he still could show emotion after years of being the profession, somethings still surprised him.
I wouldn't have looked at him as weak, I won't look at him as weak. That's one thing he isn't. But sensitive- that may be.
But who wouldn't be after hearing messages from someone you know to have left this world a long time ago. I could almost bet it was his gran..
Zak was close to his gran and from talks about our childhood, his gran practically raised him.
A loud crack of thunder echoed throughout the sky making me look up at the sterling grey clouds. Another storm..
"Come away from the window." He spoke with tiredness in his voice.
I looked across at him seeing his eyes locked on me, I made my way over to the bed and sat back in my original position, on the edge next to him.
"How you feeling?" I asked brushing his hair back.
He nodded "Tired."
"Go ba-"
"Mentally tired.."
"Oh. Can I help at all?" I asked wanting to make this easier for him.
"Stay safe and lay with me?"
I smiled and laid on the edge snuggled into him "You know, anyone would think you're a secret snuggler." I whispered.
"Hmm.. Only with you though." He sighed getting comfortable.
He dozed off after a while, with his leg thrown over mine and his arm across my stomach. I clearly wasn't moving anywhere until he was awake, I had tried but his grip tightened as I tried to slip out.
I guess him here until sleeping beauty wakes... Wait. That's makes me the beast. Oh hell no!
I clamped my eyes closed waiting for sleep to take me over too.
* * * *
Later that evening.Turns out I was the beast, I couldn't sleep. But Zak was a lot more chirper as he had packed up everything and was ushering me to get myself ready.
"I'm ready." I sighed.
He paused and looked at me "You gonna sort your hair?"
I gasped and slapped his arm playfully at my messy bun.
"I'm just say-"
"Stop!" I laughed as he wiggled the bun around.
"I think I should do your hair.." He announced grabbing my brush. I placed my hands on my hips as he took my hair out and carefully brushed all the knots out. Surprisingly his way meant I didn't snag my head back and hiss in pain.
