Zak POV

With her hands placed on her hips I watched Kaylee for a few moments whilst she spoke to Bill about the positioning of the cameras. To say I wasn't concerned for her was an understatement but I knew she needed a push in the right directions before she would get back on the horse and ride again.

I saw myself in her, her love for the paranormal mirrored my own and after such a great knockback I wanted to help her along her way again.

I snapped out of my moment of looking at her when she turned to me with a smile spread across her face, she skipped over to me and moved my hands so she could sit on my knee.

"Hey sweetie." I smiled moving a piece of hair from her face.

"Hey. You okay?" She asked quietly.

I nodded and held her hand in mine as she looked at me unconvinced. "I won't go into the basement. Not unless it is completely necessary." She spoke.

"I'd like it if you didn't go in there at all." I reminded her.

She rolled her eyes playfully "I know. But if I need the evidence...." She trailed off before looking at me slyly. I grumbled and pulled her into me for a hug.

"Oh.. You're all cuddly. Don't do this to me." She mumbled into my neck.

"Do what?" I asked amused knowing exactly what I had done.

"You're all cuddly and now I want to stay with you and snuggle instead of investi- You done that on purpose."

I flashed her a guilty smile as she tutted playfully.

"Ready when you are Kaylee." Aaron spoke stepping back in base which we had set up.

She looked at me with a smile and gave me a tighter hug before slipping off my lap and picking up her camera.

"How do I look?" She asked flicking her brow.

"I wouldn't say no." I winked making her blush before coming back over and giving me a kiss.

"Behave.." She whispered.

"Always."

"Love you." She spoke heading to the door.

"Love you too." I replied making the smile get wider on her face.

"Oh- I also made brownies and cookies. For you guys to eat in case you get hungry, as a thank you for doing this."

Billy and Aaron were on it instantly as I watched Kaylee blow me a kiss and disappear out the door. I positioned myself in front of the monitors and began watching her like a hawk. I was worried, there I said it. I was worried because late last night she began crying in her sleep begging something to leave her alone and that she didn't want to do something. When I woke her she seemed completely oblivious and asked me if I was the one dreaming but I remember waking up and checking my phone thinking that I was late.

"She will be okay man. It hasn't been 5 minutes yet." Bill spoke sitting beside me.

"I worry dude. You know what I am like with her." I grumbled.

"Yeah we do... I thought I was gonna have my head ripped off if I said no to this." He chuckled. "I'm kidding I like her, she is good for you."

I looked at her walking around slowly familiarising herself with the dark before she began. "Yeah, yeah she is."

"Best girl you've ever had bro, I mean it. She is a gem." Aaron spoke eating a cookie.

"Are they that good?" I asked amused.

"Oh so good." He whispered making us laugh.

I had hooked her up with every single piece of equipment we had on offer, in a hope that she would get the evidence she wanted. I wanted the best for her but I couldn't help worry at the same time. Maybe I had pushed her before she was ready but I felt that if she didn't, then she would step away from what she was passionate about and settle for something that she found.. Okay.

"I'll be honest with you. I didn't think she would go back in after that attachment. I figured she would be out." Aaron said looking across to me.

"I think I pushed her to the decision and she decided." I replied.

"Let's hope she has picked for the right reasons." Billy said quietly meaning that she chose for her own and not to please me.

Every room she entered she looked directly over to the camera before continuing on, she was worried, worried and scared that if something happened I wouldn't be able to find her in the building. But I had the second monitor filled with the security cameras which covered every room. I'd find her in a few seconds flat if things went wrong as I had her on monitor all the time.

I watched her pull a spirit box out of her pocket with a shaky hand before lowering it and talking herself up before she continued.

"Bless her." Billy mumbled watching the screen.

"Do you think I've done the right thing?" I asked between them.

"Dude, you've gave her a relatively safe location, I mean there's no structural problems with the building, we have the whole place rigged with cameras and motion sensored cameras. You have done all you can. It's down to the building and the contents if it wants to play ball." Billy answered.

"I agree bro, if Kaylee didn't feel safe then she wouldn't have done this. Although you can influence her, you can't tell her what to do, she has a strong mind. You can tell, I mean remember when you two first met?" He asked causing me to smile.

I will always remember that day, pulling up at the Goldfield hotel with Aaron and Bacon to see a gorgeous woman stood looking up at the building. Had an ass to die for... Has an ass to die for!

Then she threw water in my face, became satans spawn and eventually became very good friends. Now we are a little more than friends from the show down in my office this morning.

"Yo." Aaron snapped his fingers in my face bringing me back.

"Sorry. What's happened?"

"Nothing. You went off in a daydream bro.. Damn you got it bad!" He teased.

"Shut up Aaron." I grunted turning my attention back to Kaylee. Maybe I have got it bad. But If this is bad, I don't want to be good because for the first time in my life I could see a future with this woman. She was my little investigator....
