The rest of the evening went without any more sounds, bumps or EVP's. I had tried everything, from being nice, to taunting and even singing.
I hoped someone would tell me to shut up when I sang the same song over 6 times but I got nothing.
Dawn soon came and it was time for me to pack my stuff away and load it up. I already had the majority of it packed it was just the lounge where I had to take apart the boom mic and set the table and chairs back.
Nobody fancied a game of cards it would seem.
By the time Oliver and Mary came back I was outside on the steps with my head rested upon my hand falling to sleep.
"How did it go?" Oliver asked accepting the keys I held out.
"This place takes a whole new vibe at night." I replied.
Mary nodded and stood closer to him "You should get some sleep my love before you drive back to Vegas."
I smiled "I probably will, I haven't slept well lately, been busy." I lied.
Nobody wants to hear about my heartbreak.. Hell I didn't want to either.
With everything done and dusted we parted ways and I headed into the small town. I passed the B&B refusing to stay there another night I found a small and sweet hotel in the neighbouring village. I booked myself in for a couple days. I didn't have to get back to Vegas for anything. Work was covered and well.. I certainly didn't need to worry about my apartment.
Swiping myself into the room I pushed opened the door and dragged my bags in dumping them on the floor. It wasn't anything special but I asked for blackout curtains, they had those so I was happy.
After bringing in all the equipment from my car I kicked off my shoes and found some pyjamas out. Taking a hot shower I hissed at the stinging feeling, turning around in the mirror when I got out I found scratches on my shoulder, I put it down to falling back but I don't recall hurting myself. Shaking it off and not being able to put it as evidence I changed and stuck a do not disturb on the door before climbing into the bed.
I rolled around for nearly two hours before throwing the bedding off me and grabbing my phone.
I had to text him. Okay call me weak.
- ARE YOU OKAY AFTER YOUR LOCKDOWN OR NOT?!
I hit send and then put my hand on my face at what I had sent. 'Sure, take it out on him that you can't sleep.'
'Shut up.. Nobody asked for your damn advice.'
I waited for a reply and got nothing making me throw my phone across the room in anger.
Fuck him!
You did... quiet a few times.
"Shut up!!" I shouted grabbing my head. I paced the room and collected my phone, I had been lucky that it wasn't damaged or broke. But it was about to go fla- the battery died.
"Well I'm not charging it." I muttered to myself and put it on the side before climbing into bed.
I closed my eyes and mediated my body into sleep. It felt good to be able to shut my body down part by part and then it got to my shoulders and I was out like a light.
----------
I opened my eyes to find myself in a long corridor, my heavy panting meant I had been running as my heart race. Running... but running from what?
I turned around looking behind me but found the empty hall. Strange.
That's when the walls beside me began moving in..
My eyes watched as they edged closer to me, I panicked and began running hard towards the door at the end as the walls began to squeeze themselves together. I stopped and pushed against the walls trying to keep them part from each other but the force of them were too strong.
The wooden door was getting further away the longer I stayed here, so I dropped the attempt of parting the walls and raced towards it, propelling myself forward harder until my hand grasped the door handle and twisted it.
Luck was in as I fell through the door just in time as the walls slammed together hard leaving a puff of dust to come at me. I laughed nervously and got up off the floor dusting off my clothes when I froze seeing myself in woods.
"You have to be kidding me." I whispered crouching down in case somebody was preparing to pounce on me.
Looking around I saw a pair of red eyes.
"Now you are seriously taking the piss." I whispered harshly and bolted from the crouching position. Trees snagged at my face and arms as I pushed branches out the way, the sound of snarling behind me kept my legs, feet and pace up until I fell over.
I curled myself up and waited for whatever the creature was to pounce when it went quiet around me.
This is just a nightmare, you have to wake up.. Just wake up Kaylee.
With the remaining silence I removed my hands from over my head to find a large dog with red eyes blazing down at me. "Oh god.."
It's long sharp teeth had small bits of fabric in from previous victims and a long string of blood tainted drool fell from its mouth.
"Now would be a time to wake up! WAKE UP KAYLEE!!" I screamed causing the dog to lunge for my face.
-----
I woke up in a panic, sweat covered my skin as I looked around the room frantically for any signs of the dog. After reality sank in and my mind cleared itself, I sat back on the bed and laughed at myself for being so ridiculous.
I knew what Zak meant about Lockdown hangovers... I think I had one on its way.
