I watched as if time had moved into slow motion as a woman with blonde hair stepped out into the garden smiling at her son. Then her eyes fell to me, tucked in behind him almost hiding.

"Hey mom." Zak spoke walking over as I stayed at the edge of the pool nervously wrapped in a towel.

"Hey darlin' who's this?" She smiled looking at me.

That was my cue to introduce myself.. Shit.

I went over slowly and smiled "Afternoon Mrs Bagans I'm Kaylee."

"Oh. She's not a Bagans.." Zak corrected me.

"Used to be. Call me Nancy." She smiled.

"G'day".

"Australian.. Is this the wonderful lady you were telling me about?" She smiled and looked at Zak.

"Mom.." He whispered.

"Oh. I've said too much already."

I smiled quickly and looked away. Now what do I do? Just wander off?

"I'm just going to grab a drink..." Zak smiled "Would you like one?"

"Water please." I replied as he ushered his mom in.

I stood in the garden and went over to sit by Gracie on the edge of the pool.

"Hey little one." I spoke as she got up and came over licking my arm.

"Why thank you. Did you have fun? Looked like it from that cannonball." I giggled remembering the white ball of flying fur.

"You know.. You're cute. Really cute."

"Take after their owners." Zak spoke making me jump.

"Well I wouldn't go that far." I winked making him chuckle as he passed me my drink.

"I just gotta speak to my mom real quick and then I'll be back. You okay here?"

I nodded "I'm perfect."

He paused and looked at me "Yes, yes you are."

I giggled as he walked away with his cheesy one liner. Sticking my feet into the water I laid back trying to catch some sun, I knew it was bad for your skin but I didn't feel right without a tan.

Whilst I waited for Zak I wondered what would happen after swimming, if he had anything planned or if he'd drop me home.

I hoped not.. I enjoy spending time with him.

Gracie laid beside me before rolling onto her back, making me laugh softly "Catching a tan on that belly for those boys in the park eh? I won't tell your daddy."

Her tail wagged making me smile and close my eyes.

I was in absolute heaven with the cold water around my ankles and the heat blistering down.

So much so I fell asleep...

"Kaylee, Kaylee!"

"Huh?!" I sat up and collided with something, or should I say someone...

"Owh." I hissed holding my head.

"That would be my shoulder. Come on let's get you in before you crisp up like bacon." Zak spoke.
