We arrived at the party and Hayden led me to a group of people. I noticed her. Kenzie was there. She was standing next to Jaydn and Jonny. My face heated up. My ears probably turned red. Just looking at her made me mad. She said that everyone knew I liked him. Well now if we come out saying we like each other, she's gonna tell everyone "I told you so." She smiled at me. But not a nice smile. I stood with Hayden and laughed at every joke that was said by him and whoever else said it. We played glow in the dark twister and danced and danced. Hayden grabbed me by the arm and asked if I wanted to go get something to drink. The drinks were upstairs. I let him lead the way. We got to the drink table and be made his famous creation. I didn't object for anything else because it was surprisingly really good.
"So, are you having fun?" He smiled and took another sip.
"Yeah! I am. Besides the fact that Mackenzie keeps looking at us." I half smiled and looked down.
"Don't worry about her, Annie. Okay?" He moved my hair out of my face and behind my ear. I smiled. I suddenly felt compelled to tell him about the phone call but I looked down at Mackenzie's face and decided not to. I figured I'd be nice.
"Yeah, okay." I grabbed his hand. He led me outside to the balcony connected to the party venue. We sat there for about fifteen minutes and just talked.
"I'm sorry about Mackenzie. I really am.." he said and sat right beside me.
"Don't be. It's not your fault." I smiled and patted his knee.
"It kind of is. She asked to hang out for like he tried time and I told her I wasn't sure because I liked you. And she got mad and just went crazy. I guess she's taking it out on you." He replied and looked in my eyes.
"Yeah, the other day she called me and said some things." I half smiled and played with my necklace.
"What? What did she say Annie?" He sounded mad. I freaked out. Was he mad?
"No it's okay really. She just said some stuff and she ended up telling me she was hurt. So I felt bad and let it all go. It's-- Hayden it's fine really." I said as he started to get up.
"No it's not fine Annie. I don't want Mackenzie in the middle of us. She shouldn't be poking her nose in our business.
"Hayden stop, please. I told her I wouldn't tell you about the call. We both agreed to let it go. Okay?" I stood in front of him and wrapped my arms around his neck. He smiled and put his forehead on mine. He looked into my eyes and closed his. He leaned in and kissed me. He wrapped his hands around my waist and kissed me. And kissed me. And kissed me. I tossed the back of his hair and kissed him one last time.
"We should probably head back down." I smiled and bit my lip.
"Yeah, let's go.." he grabbed my hand and kissed me again. My heart bounced out of my chest. Suddenly everything bad and everything bad with Mackenzie, faded. It was just about me and Hayden now.
