Good For You

"You can't get scared, Jessica... it's going to be okay... I promise you. I love you and our baby.
Chin up."

Jessica jumps up from bed and begins to breath heavily. She had just gotten out of a Dream. Danny was in it, speaking to her. It was so real. She quickly became overwhelmed.

Jessica turned to her nightstand and looked at the clock. It was around three am. She got out of bed and went to the restroom.

When she was finished she looked at herself in the mirror. Jessica was haunted by what she saw. She couldn't even recognize herself. She was thin and weak looking. The light was taken from her eyes. She was a whole different person.

After washing her hands Jessica turned her body. She pulled up her shirt to see if maybe she had the smallest bump. But, she was too thin.

She put her shirt back down and went to bed.

As she closed her eyes she prayed maybe Danny would visit her again.

Two weeks later-

Dorthy had been staying with Jessica. They spent lots of time together which is what Jessica needed. Jessica went to work but not as often. She was taking it easy. Now that she was pregnant, she really had to push herself on getting better. In the beginning of the year she had tried but failed. Now she was eating more, getting out into the world, and just trying to be happier.

With her pregnancy, she was still never scared and anxious... but as weeks went by and she passed the twelve week mark, things got a bit easier. Overall her pregnancy was just fine. But Jessica still wasn't thrilled. It was hard for her to be. Dorthy understood Jessica's feelings towards the pregnancy. It was a lot to handle. First the death of her husband, and now an unexpected child. Of course Jessica loved this baby, but her frustration and anger wasn't letting her show it.

At the beginning Jessica thought of an option. That was adoption. She kept it in the back of her head. Within only a matter of weeks Jessica couldn't imagine 'giving' her child away. Her mother was right, this baby was a piece of Danny. It was her and Danny's creation.

For now no one knew but Dorthy and Jessica. They kept it to themselves. That's what Jessica wanted.

Her doctor had been amazing, really helping her. Jessica saw her weekly, she needed to. Jessica was constantly worried for her baby. She didn't trust her body. Jessica's Doctor always reassured her and eased her mind.

Jessica was in her studio working from home. Dorthy had just gotten back from the market. After putting away the groceries she comes into the studio and stands next to Jessica's desk.

"Jessica, I need to talk to you." Dorthy says

Jessica looks up at her mother, puzzled.

"Were you planning on moving, away?" She says nervously

Jessica turns her whole body to her mother and looks her in the eyes. "Who told you that?" Jessica asks

Dorthy pulls up a chair and sits across from her.

"Sarah, Sarah told me."

Jessica rolls her eyes and sighs "I was... I had a plan. I was going to leave work and go somewhere, possibly travel." Jessica says

She never told anyone where she was going to go or what she was going to do. All she told Sarah was that she may move. Now, those plans were over.

"Jessica, you can't move, not now. Where would you have gone?" She asks, concerned.

She shrugs her shoulders "I don't know. But I'm not going anywhere." She says sternly

Dorthy was relieved.

She quickly changes the subject "Did you take your vitamins?" She asks standing up

Jessica stands up with her and nods "Yes, I have."

Dorthy takes her hand and looks into her eyes. "I know I've only been here for a few weeks, but you've changed Jessica... you're doing much better. I'm so proud of you." She smiles.

"Things will all work out in the end. This baby is good for you." Dorthy adds

Jessica gives her a fake smile.

"I hope so..."

On Monday Jessica went back to the office. She felt weird walking in. Even though Jessica wasn't showing, she had anxiety about someone possibly finding out she was pregnant. Jessica didn't want anyone to know. She didn't know why she was keeping it a
secret.

"Hey Jessica! There is someone waiting for you in your office." Grace says

Jessica nods and slowly walks to her office. She was curious has to who could be inside. She wasn't excepting anyone.

When Jessica walked in she saw a familiar body. It was Sam, her ex friend. They hadn't seen each other in almost a year. Jessica wanted nothing to do with him.

He had worked in Jessica's office for a while after their falling out but he left. Now he was back and Jessica didn't know how to feel.

"Jessica, hi." He says turning around

She had been so shocked that her briefcase that was slightly opened fell from her hands onto the ground.

She quickly bent down trying to pick everything up. As she shoved her papers back inside Sam began to help.

Then, she sees his hands close to her eyes. In his hands were her bottle of prenatal vitamins. Her heart sunk. It didn't take an idiot to know what they were for.

She grabs them from his hand forcefully and shoves them away.

It became awkward, quickly. They both stand up and she gives him a death stare.

"What are you doing here?" She hisses

He fixes her suit and sighs. "I came to talk to you."

She rolls her eyes "I don't want to talk to you. We have nothing to talk about."

"I just wanted to say-"

"If it's to say you're sorry, I don't want to hear it. Just go, Sam." She says sternly

Jessica wanted nothing to do with him. She had a deep hate for him. It took a lot for Jessica to really hate someone too.

Sam had heard of Danny's death, but he knew not to bring it up. He was lost for words just discovering that Jessica's was in fact pregnant.

"Fine... I won't say anything other than this-
Heather gave me a job here, again. She said that you are short a few writers so I am back. I will see you around, Jessica.
Oh, and congrats on the baby."

Sam turns around and leaves the office. He closes the door behind him and right as he does Jessica throws her brief case across the room making everything fly over her office. She punches the walls in anger and runs to her desk.
