Five months later...
Spencer:POV
"Are you hungry Ariella?" I ask in a high-pitched voice, and she giggles. I stand up from the living room floor, and head towards the kitchen.
I open up the refrigerator, and grab an small container of applesauce. I grab a spoon from the silverware drawer, and I hear Ariella let out a cry of distress.
"Ariella, it's okay! I'm coming right back." I promise in fear that she might accidentally wake up her sleeping sister.
I turn around, and gasp. There is my precious baby girl, standing on her legs, walking towards me for the very first time. Her arms are in front of her, reaching for me as she lets out a loud wail when she falls down.
I drop the spoon and applesauce as I run towards her, and scoop her up off the floor. I kiss her on the cheek, and she immediately stops crying.
"I'm so proud of you! I wish that your mommy was here to see it, though." I tell her, and she giggles in response.
Right now, Teddy was at the park as she likes to say "soaking up inspiration for her next book".
"I'm sure Mommy won't mind if we stop by the park to see her, right?" I ask Ariella, and she makes a gurgling noise while sucking on her fingers.
I set her down on the couch, and grab the double stroller from the closet and push it into the living room. I buckle Ariella into the stroller, and walk into the nursery to get Hadley. She starts to stir awake as I open the door and reach into her crib to pick her up.
"Do you wanna see your mommy?" I ask, and she gives me a confused look. I walk out of her room and back into the living room. I buckle her into the left side of the double stroller, and grab the house keys off of the coffee table and head out the door.
It was a particularly warm April day, and I was glad for that. It had rained earlier in the morning so the grass was filled with tiny dew droplets and the tulips were just starting to sprout. The air smelled like freshly cut grass, my favorite scent. I push the stroller along the sidewalk and I hear Ariella burst out into fits of giggles for no apparent reason.
I spot Teddy laying down on the park bench, looking as if she would fall asleep at any moment. I place the stroller next to the bench, and sit down on the opposite side of the bench that Teddy was laying on.
"Hey, Spence." Teddy yawns and sits up.
"Tired?" I ask.
"No, I'm wide awake. Can't you tell?" she says sarcastically, and I hear Hadley let out a loud yawn from behind us.
"Apparently your sleepiness is contagious." I laugh as I unbuckle Hadley from her stroller and place her in Teddy's arms.
"Guess what Ariella did today." I tell her, and Teddy thinks for a moment.
"I don't know, what did she do?" she asks, and I smile.
"She walked."
"She did?!" Teddy jumps up, suddenly wide awake.
"Careful, your still holding half of your children." I warn Teddy, and she sits back down.
"That's amazing!" she says, and I nod.
"I know. She's quite an early walker!" I say.
"She always has been early at everything. Early at eating solid food, early at smiling, and now she's early at walking!" Teddy laughs.
"She must be an overachiever." I remark.
"I think that's a good thing. Always reaching for the stars." she says, and I shrug.
