Teddy:POV
My eyes widen, and my entire body freezes. "Spencer?" I ask cautiously, and lean against the wall behind me. My hands are shaking, and I quietly await for his response.
"Yeah. Listen, can I talk to you for a minute, please?" Spencer begs, and I gulp.
"I don't know..." I trail off, and I hear him sigh over the phone.
"Just one minute, that's all I'm asking." He says, and I furrow my eyebrows and frown.
"Okay, go ahead."
"I know I screwed up big time, and honestly if I were you, I wouldn't forgive myself. It's driving me nuts not being able to talk to you. I just...want to be able to at least try to be friends with you." He says, and I gasp.
"Spencer..."
"You don't have to answer me right know, just please get back to me soon. No matter how hard I try, I just can't get you out of my head. I can't live without you." Spencer says, his voice cracking at the end. I squeeze my eyes shut, and sigh.
"Bye, Spencer." I say.
"Bye, Teddy." He says, and I shove my phone back into my jean pocket. I fake a smile, and walk back over to our table.
"Hey, you okay?" Beau asks me, and I nod.
"Yeah, that was just my roommate reminding me to pick up some groceries later." I lie, and I mentally high-five myself for being able to think of that excuse so quickly.
"Oh, okay." He says, and I sit down.
"So, what do you want to talk about?" I ask, and he smiles.
"I don't know, what do you want to talk about?" Beau asks, I rest my chin in my hands, and think for a moment.
"What is your dream job?" I ask, and tuck a strand of hair behind my ear.
"I want to a psychologist, I just really want to help people. What about you?" He asks, leaning back in the booth.
"I want to be an author. I love how you can just make up your own world, and make whatever you want to happen, a story reality." I say, and a waitress walks up to us, and sets down two drinks.
"Do you all know what you'd like to order?" The tall brunette asks, and I take a sip out of my cup of water.
"I'll take a cheese burger, no pickles please." I say, and she writes my order down.
"I'll take the same. Do you want to get a shake?" Beau asks me, and I look at the shakes inside of the menu.
"Um, peanut-butter banana shake please." I ask, and she writes the shake name down.
Spencer:POV
"So sorry, I just remembered I had to call my mom... to wish her happy birthday." I lie, and wish that I had good lying skills.
"At nine-thiry at night?" Olivia asks me, and I bite my lip.
"Yep." I say slowly, and nod. I can tell that she doesn't believe me, but I don't say anything. "So, if you couldn't be a singer, what do you want to be, job-wise?" I ask, and she leans back in her seat.
"I would want to be a fashion designer, what about you?." She asks, and I cringe.
"A football player." I say, and she cringes, and quickly fakes a smile.
"Cool. Well, thanks for dinner." Olivia says, and stands up from her chair.
"You're welcome." I say, and stand up as starts to head towards the door. "I'll see you later." I tell her, and we head our separate ways. My phone buzzes, and I take it out of my pocket.
It's time. You know where to go. Call me when you have the cat
Of course my dad would want me to get that stupid cat right now. I put my phone back in my pocket, and walk into a pet store across the street, and pick up a cat carrier. I walk into the direction of the apartment building, and my heart is beating so hard, I'm pretty sure that China can hear it. I arrive at the apartment building, and take out my phone and look at my earlier texts from my dad.
Room 267, floor three. He's out on the weekends, no security system. There's a hidden key inside of a plant next to the reception desk.
I walk inside the tall building, and walk up to the receptionist. "Hello, I'm looking for my brother's room." I lie, and he looks up at me.
"What's your brother's name?" He asks me with a smile, and I try to think on my feet.
"John Johnson." I say, and he look at me like I'm crazy.
"Are you telling me that your parents named your brother John, when his last name is already Johnson?" He asks, and I mentally slap myself about how stupid my lie sounded.
"We have quite the parents." I laugh nervously, and he looks down at his computer with a head shake. While he searches for my "brother", I slowly bend down to grab the key, when the receptionist looks back up.
"Sir, what are you doing?" He asks me, and I shoot back up.
"I dropped my pen." I say, and dive back down. I dropped my pen? That's seriously the best that I could think of? I grab the key quickly, and stand back up. "You know what, I just remembered that he already texted me his room number. Thanks!" I say, not sure what I would be thanking him for. I quickly walk out of the lobby, and into the elevator. I can't stop thinking about what would happen if I were to get caught. The elevator door opens, and I walk out and start to look for room 267. I find the room, and take the key out of my pocket. "Here goes nothing..." I mumble, and turn the key into the slot.
The door opens and I slowly walk in. I see something move from the corner of my eye, and I jump back. I hear a "meow", and I sigh a breath of relief. I slowly walk towards the striped cat, and open the cage of the cat carrier. This by far, is the dumbest thing that I've ever done. I grab the small cat, and gently set it inside of the dark blue cat carrier. "That was quick." I whisper, and look for an exit where I can't get caught. I open the big window, and start to climb out. I step onto the metal stairway, and quietly walk down. I text my dad that I have the cat, and my mind wanders to Teddy. I just asked her if she would be friends with me, and I just commit ed a felony. How can she forgive me, If I can't even forgive myself?
