42. you forgot

Me and Shawn used to be best friends. We were inseparable, you couldn't keep us apart for long until he got signed at island records. He had to go on tour. When be told me I was happy for him but I knew I was going to miss him. I took him to the airport with his family and said goodbye.

"Shawn I am really going to miss you."

"I'm really going to miss you."

"Shawn will you promise me one thing?"

"Yes."

"Don't forget me when you make it big and are tour."

"Aw Y/N how could I forget you? I promise ok I'll see you soon. I love you."

"I love you too." He hugged me and then got onto his plane.

Present day....

It's been a year since Shawn made that promise and he broke it within the first month. He wouldn't respond to anything I sent him. He wouldn't make any effort to talk he left me on read. I know he was busy but he did say he would text me when he could.

I woke up today and groaned. Why? Because Shawn comes home today and my family and his family are having a family meal.

I am honestly dreading seeing him again but I want to I mean Shawn is Shawn and I just can't hate him even though I want too.

I get ready for this meal and take deep breaths.  I head downstairs and help my mum set up and set the table. I hear the door and go over to answer the door.

"Hello Y/N." Mrs Mendes says.

"Hello Mr and Mrs Mendes, aaliyah, Shawn. Please come in."

"Thank you so much Y/N." Mrs Mendes says then walks in and so does the rest of the Mendes family.

They sit down and while Shawn walked past we made eye contact but I looked away.

We all go to sit at the dining table because my mum said dinner was ready.  We all talk and I get asked a few questions on how I am doing and what I have been up to lately and I answer them with short questions. Shawn talks about tour and I can tell how passionate he is about it which I think is sweet.

After food we all go to the living room. I'm about to sit down when I hear a voice.

"Hey can we talk?"

Immediately I know it is Shawn.

"Yeah sure let's go to my room."

We walk upstairs to my room and I lead us out onto my balcony.

"Look Y/N I am so sorry for not talking to you I was busy and when I had the time to talk to you I didn't because I was stupid and I'm such an idiot. Look I never intended to hurt you. I needed to figure something out and now that I know I have the answer to what I was trying to figure out. I am so so sorry."

"Shawn you still could have messaged me saying you were busy and couldn't talk. You didn't always have to leave me on read."

"I know and I'm so sorry about that ok."

"What did you need to figure out anyway that was so important?"

"I needed to figure out how I felt bout you."

"Me? But why?"

"Because you were always there for me and it was tough for leaving you. I knew I liked you more than a friend but I didn't realise how much until I left you. I am in love with you."

"What?"

"I am in love with you."

I take a moment and lean over the balcony to let what Shawn said sync in.
I then decide to turn around.

"Do you really love me?"

"Yes Y/N I do what do I have to do to show you that I love you?"

"I...I...I don't know."

"Well maybe this will show you."

He grabs me by the waist and kisses me. I am shocked at first but then kiss him back and my arms and up around his neck.

"I love you too Shawn."

"What?"

"I love you too."

He smiles and then kisses me again.

He pulls away.

"Will you be my girlfriend?"

"Yes I will." I say then peck him on the lips.

"We should probably go downstairs before our parents suspect anything." I say. He nods in agreement and takes my hand.

Our parents smile knowing that we are all happy and talking again.

Me and Shawn are happy we are talking again. And we are in love.
