59. clumsy

Today I am meeting my friend at a cafe. We have organised to meet there because we haven't seen eachother in a while and what better place to meet up then a cafe.

I'm running a littlest because my college class over ran so I'm trying to get there quickly. I get there and see her waiting.

"I'm sorry I'm late class over ran."

"It's fine Y/N You are here now and that's all that matters."

I order my drink and bring it back to the table. We talk for a little while and then I had to go to the bathroom so I politely excused myself to go to the bathroom.

I go to the bathroom and wash my hands afterwards. I walk out of the bathroom and trip over my own feet.Just as I'm about to hit the floor two strong arms wrap around my waist.

"Whoa there. Are you okay?"

"Yeah I'm fine thanks for um...catching me I guess."

"Oh it's no problem. We couldn't have you hurting yourself now could we?" the guy says making me chuckle.

"Also I know what it is like to be clumsy and falling over is quite embarrassing and I didn't think you deserved to be embarrassed so I saved you."

"Well thanks, not many people would do that."

"Honestly its fine."

I realise I'm looking up into his beautiful hazel eyes and his arms are still around my waist. I cough slightly and he lets go and we lose the eye contact we had.

He looks like he deciding whether he should say something or not. eventually he says something. He looked oddly familiar but I can't seem to place where I know him from. Oh well.

"Hey, um...I am Shawn by the way." he says smiling at me.

"I am Y/N."

There is a bit of awkward silence so I decide to break it.

"I have to go back to my friend. It was nice meeting you, See you around?"

"Yeah see you around, oh and it was nice to meet you too!"

I walk away from him and sit back down at the table where she is looking at me shocked with her mouth wide open.

"What?" I ask.

"Did you just realise who stopped you from falling?"

"Uh..yeah some guy called Shawn."]

"Not just any guy called Shawn Y/N, that was Shawn Mendes."

That is why he seemed so familiar he was a celebrity and a well known one.

"oh ok." I say with absolute no enthusiasm.

"oh ok." she says mocking me. " Y/N you just met THE Shawn Mendes. How are you not freaking out right now/"

"I am just not. Look he is an ordinary person that probably does not want the attention right now. ok? So just leave him be, we are here to catch up on us two and no one else ok?"

"Ok but just thought I would let you know, he I totally checking you out right now."

"He is?"

"Yeah turn around."

I turn around and catch him staring at me, he notices I'm looking at him and quickly lowers his head quietly smiling at himself trying to hide the oink colour on his cheeks and turn back around and me and my friend get into a conversation of what might happen between him and me obviously joking because I probably wasn't going to see him again.

We leave not long after. I was wrong about not seeing him again. I bumped into him quite a lot after that day. a few weeks of constant bumping in to each other and he plucked up the courage to ask for my phone number.

We were constantly messaging and calling each other getting to know each other better. we talked for at least a month over the phone before he asked me out on a date.

The date was dead sweet and romantic and at the end of the date he asked me out. I said yes and that was the start of our amazing journey together.

I don't think being clumsy is that bad anymore after all I met the love of my life over clumsiness so I guess I have that to thank for.
