31: The One With The Serpents

TONI POV:

"Cheryl, Toni hand over your jackets." I stand up. "What?" I ask. "You broke serpent law. Hand over your jackets." Jughead reaches his hand out. "Jug, you can't do this I'm a serpent by blood, you're just a little white boy." Cheryl takes off her jacket. "I'll leave but Toni gets to stay I was the one who threw her into my problems and emotional damage." Cheryl speaks up. I look back at her. "Cheryl you don't have to do this." I say trying to talk her out. She walks over to me. "Remember what I said last night. It's true and I'm doing this because I love you." She hands Jughead her jacket. "Have fun ruining the serpents." She says walking away.

"Hey, you didn't have to do that." I walk into our room. "Why? I shouldn't have been a serpent in the first place." She turns from her desk. "What are you talking about?" I take off my jacket and throw it on the bed. "I joined the serpents we are dating. That's the only reason they let me in, because of you." She says. "Can I be honest with you?" I ask. She nods. "I didn't want you to be a serpent. Because I didn't want you to get hurt, but I thought about it. But, I guess you're right." I say quietly. She gets up and walks closer to me. "Cheryl, the other day. Before everything, Veronica said something about this Nick guy and how she's happy you're now more comfortable with me. What is she talking about?" I ask quietly. She looks down. "If you don't want to talk about it..." Cheryl looks back up and wipes her tears. She sits back down at her desk, I sit on the bed. "Last year, the Lodges were having that sodale open house, I went Nick was there. He offered me a drink and he drugged me and tried to rape me." My blood starts to boil. I get up and start walking out. "I'm gonna kill him." She stops me. "Please don't. He got what he deserved, I can't lose you to something stupid like him." She whisper with tears in her eyes. "You're the first person in a while, that I've felt this comfortable with. I don't- I cant lose you." She talks me out of killing him. "Toni." I look up at her. "I just hate the thought of you getting hurt." I say quietly trying to stay strong. "I know. I do to." She whispers. "Also you can't be stomping around, Nana Rose is asleep." She cups me cheeks.

"Cheryl, told me not to do this. But I don't think I have much of a choice." I say to SweetPea and Fangs. "Why should we care, she's not a serpent anymore?" Jughead buds into our conversation. I get up. "Because she's my girlfriend! Why are you so protective? I let you in with open arm, no, I helped you get into the serpents and you. And you take charge, you have been here for five minutes, Ive been a serpent my whole life. You need to remember who's helped you. You ungrateful piece of shit." He pushes me, I grab his shirt and punch him.

"What happened?" Cheryl ask covering the back of my head with a badge and ice. "I got in a fight with Jughead and he pushed me into the fire pit, luckily there was no fire." I wince in pain. "We should go to the hospital." I look at her. "I can't afford that." I whisper. She doesn't listen and helps me up. "I can." We go to the car. "Cheryl." She drives off. "We are going to the hospital and you're not stopping me." We get to the hospital and Cheryl helps me out. "I'll be fine." I say that and everything goes black. I wake up with a headache. "Cher." I touch the top of my head. Cheryl quickly stops me. "Don't do that. Your head is full of staples and stitches." I take my hands away. "This hurts like hell." I say quietly. She sits on the bed. "I know, maybe you and Jughead shouldn't get in fights." She says quietly. I pull her into a kiss. "What was that for?" She ask. "Just shut up and kiss me." She smiles and kisses me slowly.
