37: The One Without Toni

Part 2 for 36
CHERYL POV:

"What's that?" Antoinette points to the box on my bed. I open it and pull out Toni's serpent jacket, it still smells like her perfume. "It's Toni's jacket." I say quietly. She climbs up in the bed and sits next to me. "Do you miss her?" She ask quietly. I pull her into a hug. "More than anything." I whisper. "You know, I named you after her. Right?" I ask, she shakes her head. I rap Toni's jacket around her. "You're just like her. In the best way possible."

"Sweet Pea?" He stands up and wipes his tears. "Sorry, what are you doing here?" He ask quietly. "She's my wife. What do you think I'm doing here?" I say pissed off. "Sorry you're right." Walk over to the grave and rub my hand over her name. "I never told you this but, she wanted you to know how much she loved you. She wouldn't stop talking about how exited she was that you were pregnant, she was hoping it was a boy though." I laugh because of course she wanted a boy. That's the only things we disagreed with. "Cheryl, remember when she proposed to you and you slapped her?" He ask laughing a little. I smile sadly. "I was apologizing for that till the day she died." I wipe my tears. "Literally! We're talking about that morning." I laugh. "Why are you here?" I turn to him. "Honestly, I needed an excuse for Why I've been crying." He kicks his feet. "Everything ok?" I ask quietly. "Not really. Ever since Toni died, my depression has gotten worse and Josie and I broke up. Everything has been going downhill." He looks down. "If you need to talk..." I trail off. "I'm fine, I just need to take a step back from everything." I nod. "Well if you need to talk, I'll listen." He nods and bites his nails. "So I'm guessing Fangs confused the shit out of Tiny yesterday night." He says as we start to walk away. "Yeah, I finally told her about Toni. The only hard part about it is, she's 4 and has a million questions about everything it's just emotionally hard." We get to my car. "I'll see you later, umm, Fangs said to call him when you get the thing. I don't know what he's talking about but." I shrug. "I know exactly what. I'll see you later." I get in my car and drive off. Get home and the house isn't burned to the ground so that's good. I walk in. "Hey, she's upstairs." Betty grabs her stuff, we say goodbye and I go upstairs. I go to Antoinette's room, she's sound asleep with Toni's jacket rapped around her. I take a picture and than wake her up. "Hey Sweetie." She slowly opens her eyes. "Mommy." She whispers as she sits up and hands me the jacket. "What's up Sweetie?" I sit in front of her. I pick her up and she lies her head on my shoulder. "Where did you go?" She whispers. "I had to deal with some business." We walk out. "I'm hungry." She whispers. "What do you want?" I ask quietly. "Food." Oh my god she's Toni.

12 years later.

"Mom, why are you so against me joining the serpents?" Antoinette ask after I said she couldn't join. "Because, I don't want you getting hurt." I confess. "I'm not mom." She whispers. "I don't care about that." I walk over to her and cup her cheeks. "I've worked so hard for you to have a semi normal life, I don't want it to be ruined over something that can be prevented." I whisper. "And in a way you are your mom. I see so much of her in you." She smiles sadly. "What happened that she died because of?" She ask quietly. "Sit." We sit in the couch and have deep conversation about everything leading up to Toni's death. "It wasn't her fault though." I say finally. She looks nervous. "What's wrong?" I ask quietly. She takes a deep breath. "I know this is off topic but, I need to say this before I can't anymore." She whispers. "You can tell me anything." I feel like I know what's coming, but I'm not sure. "I think I'm gay." She whispers. "Ok. I'll love you no matter what you decide to do with your life." I rub her cheek. She looks down and starts crying. "Ann." I pull her into a hug. "Why were you so scared to tell me that?" I ask quietly. "I wasn't, I was scared to say it out loud." She whispers.

"Sweet Pea, please listen to me when I say this. Protect her at all cost." I stop him. "She's my baby." He looks down at me. "Trust me, it was Toni's dying wish. I made a promise to protect you and her until I couldn't anymore. She's safe with the serpents." He pulls me into a hug. I start crying quietly. "Just keep my baby safe." She rubs my back. "I will." I pull away and wipe my tears. "I'll do what ever to keep her safe." I walk out and go home.
