42: The One Where They Meet For The First Time Since High School

TONI POV:

"Cheryl Blossom." I lie my helmet on the bar top. She puts her beer down and looks at me. Her eyes winded. "Toni." She gets down and hugs me. She slowly pulls away. "I thought you weren't coming back here anytime soon." She whispers. "I couldn't live without someone." I tell her. "Why are you here? Go get them." She laughs. I take a deep breath breath, gently grab her chin and kiss her. She's shocked for a second but slowly kisses back. We pull away slowly, I cup her cheek. "Oh." She smiles. We sit down at the bar and talk for hours. "Why did you leave in the first place?" She ask a few beers later. "Pressure to get out of here by my uncle. I'm the first person in my family to even excepted to college, it was too much for me. I didn't want to go. But I did for like one semester and it was just to much for me, so I-I dropped out and got a job. Got fired from that job packed my shit and moved back here." I tell her sadly. "Why- why did you stay?" I ask her sipping my beer. "I had to take care of Nana Rose." She says quietly and sadly. "How's she doing?" I ask quietly. "She died, a few months ago actually." She looks down. "I'm sorry about that." I rub her shoulder. "She was ready. Before we graduated she fell down the stairs. She said that if she ended up in the hospital again and it was life or death, she said that we should take her off life support." I take her hand. "I'm sorry." I whisper. We talk and drink until the place closes. "Topaz Blossom, time to go." Sweet Pea opens the door. I help Cheryl down. "Are you still at Thristle house?" I ask quietly. "Yeah." I hold her. "I need your keys." I whisper. "Right." She hands me her keys. I give Sweets my keys and helmet to my bike. We get to her car. "Wait." She stops me. "What's up?" She rubs my cheek. "Are you sober?" I nod. "I only had a few beer and we were there for 6 hours so." She smiles and  kisses my cheek. I blush. "Come on." I get her into the back and get in front. I drive off. "You're really pretty." Cheryl whispers. We get to thrisle house. "Come on." I help her out. "Can you- can you Toni Topaz, stay with me for the night? I don't really want to be alone, especially with you in town." She ask everything very slurred. "Yeah. Let's go." I help her inside and upstairs. She gets changed herself and we lie down the bed. Cheryl quickly falls asleep as I'm left to think about why we broke up in the first place. It's because of that stupid fight we had right before graduation over us and a long distance relationship.

"Ton, I need to take care of Nana Rose! I can't go with you!" Cheryl yells. I walk over to her and take her hands. "Cheryl, I never said you had to go with me. We can do long distance, we can make it work." I try to calm her. "No! That's what every relationship says and they never turn out ok. I can't do this." She starts to walk away but I stop her. "Cheryl we're not other relationship." I desperately hold back tears. "No, you're right. We're not, we're not even a relationship anymore." She walks away leaving me in shock.

She starts turning in her sleep. "No. Please stop." She holds onto my shirt tighter. I hold her close and rub her back. "No!" She shoots up panting and crying. She cries into her hands, I just sit up and rub her back. "Cheryl..." I pull her into me. "It's still burned into my mind, I can't get rid of it." She whispers. "I know. Let's lie down." We both lie down and she cries until we both fall asleep.

"I thought you weren't having nightmares from Nick anymore." She places a cup of coffee in front of me and sits down. She takes a deep breath. "When we broke up, that night I didn't have you and it was hard, because I probably had the worst nightmare of them all and you weren't there for me. So everything felt 10x worst." She drinks her coffee. "I'm sorry." She shrugs. "It's not your fault, none of this is your fault. I broke up with you." I take a deep breath. "Maybe we should try dating again. Now that we both have our lives together."
