Chapter 41
ECHO'S POV
*The Next Day*
I hobbled over to my closest and pulled on a plain black dress that stopped at my knees and had thin straps. I sat a chair in front of my mirror and turned on my flat iron. While I waited for it to heat up, I added a thin line of eyeliner.
Once it was heated up, I flat ironed my hair and smiled at myself in the mirror. I grabbed a black flat and slipped it on my right foot, grabbing my crutches and slowly going down the stairs.
"Well, don't you look pretty." My mom smiled as I reached the bottom.
"Yeah, Haven's taking me out tonight, remember?"
"Yes I do remember." She smiled. I went over to the couch and sat down, leaning my crutches against the couch. I crossed my legs at the knee and played a game on my phone, waiting for Haven. There was a knock on the door and I got up, going over to the door and opening it.
"Hey." He smiled.
"Hey." I said as he hugged me. "Bye mom."
"Bye, have fun." She said as Haven closed the door behind me. I followed him to his car and got in the passenger side while he put my crutches in the backseat. He closed my door and went around to the driver's side, getting in. He started the car and pulled out of the driveway and driving down the street.
"So, where are we going?" I asked.
"It's a surprise." He winked.
"Come on Haven."
"Don't worry." He said, reaching over and patting my thigh. I sighed and crossed my arms over my chest, looking out the window. All of a sudden, he went down a road that led into a patch of trees.
"Um, Haven?"
"I told you not to worry. I promise I won't kill you."
"Well, alright." I said. He stopped the car and turned it off, getting out. He went around to my side and picked me up, carrying me out of the car. He closed the door with his foot and carried me around to the front of the car and layed me down on the hood. He climbed up next to me and grabbed my hand.
"I know you don't remember this place. This is where we had your last date, about a week before your accident." He said, not looking at me but up at the sky. "We talked about your new sister and being seniors and driving and even my new job."
"You have a job?"
"Kind of. If I don't show up tomorrow, I'm fired. Ever since your accident, I haven't gone."
"Haven! You should go to work."
"I will, I will, I've just been so worried about you."
"You don't have to be worried about me. Look at me, I'm all better!"
"I care about you Echo. I have to be worried about you, I'm your boyfriend."
"I just wish I could remember."
"We could always just start over." He shrugged.
"I guess it's our only option." I said and he nodded. He rolled onto his side and turned my head, kissing my lips. We pulled away and smiled at each other.
"That was nice." I giggled and he nodded.
"I missed that." He said, putting his hand on my waist and pulling me closer to him. He leaned in and kissed me again.
We eventually got back into the car and he drove me home. He helped me up to my door and hugged me, quickly kissing my lips before opening the door for me.
"Bye Haven, I'll text you."
"Kay, see you Echo."
"Bye." I said, closing the door.
"How was your date?" My mom asked.
"It was fun." I smiled, making my way up the stairs.
