"Well, he was definetly angry," Lyra said to Sirius when the Order left. "I've never seen him so fustrated with Mrs. Weasley."
"I would be angry too," Sirius grumbled. "Dumbledore has no right to keep him out of the circle. All of this is about Harry and Voldemort - you can't just throw him into this war having no idea what's happening."
"Sirius, you're forgetting that he is just a boy," Lyra said worriedly. "Having dueled Voldemort or not, Harry still needs as muchinnocents as he can get. He is too young to be worrying about any of this."
"It's too late for him to keep his innocents, Lyra," Sirius snapped. "Just because your kids have no idea how serious this is doesn't mean Harry has to be oblivious too."
"My kids do know what's going on," Lyra snapped back. "I see it in their eyes every day. They are worried - scared - about how this war will turn out."
"Well, it's only the begginning," Sirius said bitterly. "And they haven't faced anything worst then a D in their grade."
"They have faced worst then a bad grade!" Lyra said. "Their father is still missing and he has no idea who he is or who they are! Their uncle is in hiding because everyone believes he is a mass murderer! Their mother is sent on dangerious missions every other day because she's trying to make a better place for them! And they themselves are forced to hide in the headqurters because a dark wizard is trying to come after Harry! Don't you see why I'm trying to keep their innocents as long as I can? I don't want them to face the truth! The truth hurts, Sirius, and I don't want them hurt."
Sirius sighed and put an arm around his sister, whose bottom lip was trembling. Lyra never voiced this out loud, because she knew that the only one who would get it would be Mrs. Weasley; but Lyra didn't want to end up comforting Mrs. Weasley, she wanted to be comforted herself.
"Everything will take a turn for the better, Lyra," SIrius said. "I know it will. Soon Will and Lynx will be telling their children about the time when their brave mother fought in the war and came out with nothing but a scratch. Then they'll tell their children about how the whole ministry bent down on one knee to beg their uncle for his forgiveness, which he never gave them."
Lyra gave Sirius a smile. "Then we can tell them about the adventures we went on in our HOgwarts years. About the time we took a trip in Filch's office and changed our grades for History of Magic because we failed miserabley, and about the time we let all of Hagrid's pets run through the castle and how Fang chewed half of Snape's robes off in front of Lily."
Sirius laughed loudly at that. "One of the best days of my life."
"And she ended up cursing you to speak in rhymes for the rest of the day because you weren't sensible enough to stop laughing," Lyra sniggered.
"Take off this rediculus charm, I say," Sirius said, quoting what he said to Lily that day. "Or I will curse Snivellus into next Tuesday."
Lyra laughed now, remembering how rediculus he looked trying to be intimidating while speaking in rhymes. She found herself quoting what he said too. "Come on Evans, I know this annoys you. Please, I'll even polish your shoe."
"I was desperate!" SIrius said in his defense. "And her shoes were very dirty so that was the first thing that popped in my mind, and then it came out in a rhyme."
"Evans, I've been laughed at all day," Lyra went on. "I promise I'll say sorry to Snivellus, okay?"
"ANd she still didn't show mercy," SIrius sighed in fondness. "She sure did know how to hold a grudge."
"Harry didn't seem to get that from her," Lyra smiled. "He is a very forgiving person."
"Yeah," Sirius grinned. "He got that from James."
"Along with his looks," Lyra put in. "And his temper."
"Nah," Sirius waved his hand. "He got his temper from Lily."
"No, he didn't," Lyra argued. "Harry's temper builds up because he keeps it in and then when he's pushed to his limit, he explodes. Just like James. But Lily was just a ball of fire, she'll yell at you if you ate one too many cookies then you were supposed to."
"True," Sirius said, frowning at the memories of Lily and James. "Merlin, do I miss those two."
Lyra felt a wave of depression over sweep her. "They were both such good people. . ."
"There was no one better," SIrius agreed.
"ANd poor Harry didn't even have a chance to know them," Lyra went on, but she kept quiet for a while.
Not for the first time, them memories of her best friend danced through her mind. Lily's bright smile, James' micheviious grin. Lily's startling green eyes, James' glinting hazel ones. Lily's pursed lips when she was angry, James' tightened jaw when he was upset. Lily's wrinkled nose when she was disgusted, James' dirty look when he was disgusted.
She also thought of their personalities, so differant yet they fit so perfectly together. Lily's modest words, and James' arrogant ways. Lily's flaring temper, and James' deadly calm. Lily's cringe-worthy grudges, James' tear-worthy forgiving words.
Lyra closed her eyes and leaned her head against SIrius' shoulder.
"What do you think they would say if they seen us now?" Lyra asked Sirius.
"'Stop being so depressed, Sirius, you're ruining my mood,'" Sirius said, mimicking James' voice. Then he mimicked Lily's, "'James! Don't be so insensative! He misses us, the poor thing!'"
Lyra laughed. "Those were the worst mimicks I had the displeasure of hearing."
"Do I hear jealousy in your tone?" SIrius smirked.
"Of course not," Lyra scoffed. "My mimicks are always spot on."
"Of course they are." Sirius laughed. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I'll go to bed."
"Good, you need it," Lyra mumbled when he left. "You look like the Corpse Bride."
Lyra heard SIrius' bark like laughs as he climbed up the staircase.
