Guilt

Lynx felt tears spilling down her cheeks. She had never seen her mother cry before, it was scary. If she had hope before this, then it had gone as quickly as Lyra had collapsed.

Lynx was angry with her mother for making her feel hopeless, she was angry that her mother somehow made her want to hug her in stead of punching her for being such a bully in school; but it was impossible for her to stay mad at her mother.

Impossible.

Lynx looked down at her brother. He had fallen asleep, and he looked terrible.

His once handsome face was badly cut, blood running down his face in every direction and his beautiful grey eyes looked milky pale, just like. . . just like his Dad's.

"Y- you're my daughter?" said a voice behind her.

Lynx jumped and looked behind her. There stood Nick Blue, but he looked differant, he looked better. His white, dead hair now looked thicker and darker, his silver eyes had a brown tint to them, and his once thin figure was thicker, more muscular.

"Dad?" Lynx said, her voice raspy. "Are you. . . are you real?"

Nick gave a weak smile. "Of course I'm real, Lynx."

Lynx felt a strange warmth flood through her when he said her name. She never heard him say her name before.

Nick's eyes landed on Will, and they visibly darkened. "That's my son? That's Will?"

Lynx's throught felt tight, but she managed to say, "Yes."

Nick knelt down next to her and brushed Will's blood encrusted brown hair out of his eyes. "He has his mother's eyes. You're going to be just fine, Will, you hear me?"

"Dad?" Will managed to say, his lips barely moving.

"Yes, that's me," Nick said.

"Where's Mum?" Will asked.

"She's busy," Nick said, then took out his wand. "I'm going to fix you up."

"That would be good," WIll murmered, before feinting from the pain.

Nick started to murmer spells, pointing his wand at each of Will's horrible cuts. They healed quickly, but left horrible scars that Lynx hoped would go away fast. She didn't like the way they disfigured his face, made him look scarey and ugly; and she didn't want a reminder that this was all her fault. Suddenly, she felt like curling in a ball and sobbing just like her mother.

She felt a warm hand on her shoulder and looked up to see Nick's eyes on her. "It's not your fault, Lynx. You just wanted to fight, you're just like your mother."

Nick then furrowed his eyebrows, like he wondered how he knew that. Finally, he shook his head and wrapped Lynx in a hug. A hug she never felt before. A hug not like her mother's loving one, but this was an understanding hug - like he knew exactly how she felt.

Lynx hugged him back.

She had often felt like she hated her father for being in a ward at St. Mongos, but this made up for it. The only thing that would make this moment perfect was if Sirius and Lyra joined. . . Sirius.

Lynx was sobbing before she could stop herself. She never felt this misery before, it was new to her, raw. She didn't like it, she wished she never followed Harry and the others here; if she didn't follow them here, maybe she wouldn't be feeling this, maybe Sirius wouldn't be gone. She could be at school, complaining about how much homework the teachers got her, not crying over the death of her uncle.

"It's okay," Nick said. "I'm here."

Lynx was glad that Nick said that, because he was right. He was there, and that made everything alright.
